Bob had gotten up early that day for some inexplainable reason ...
or perhaps it was due to a pestering psychic voice in his
head somewhat resembling an alarm clock.
"Ugh ... ergh ... Just five more minutes Raffy ... don't wanna feed
the Ice types again ... hate the cold ..." Bob muttered, flailing an
arm out to hit a snooze button that wasn't there but a Girafarig's
head that was.
The result was a psychic shrill that woke Bob up in about 3
seconds flat. Both trainer and pokemon glared at each other
before a full out tickle contest started. Partly exhausted again,
but awake, Bob got dressed and headed for the Stadium to
watch the semi-finals.
When he got there, he chose a seat a couple of rows behind a
guy in a performer's outfit. The Unown is what attracted him,
knowing that they attract trouble, but since all it wanted to do
was Nuzzle, Bob felt it relatively safe.
While watching the match, Bob's thoughts wandered to Aerie
and the Unown. He knew that Mimic was collecting them and
that the ones invading Aerie wanted more of their comrades.
He could only guess that others wanted to collect the Unown
while others still were innocent bystanders in a greater game.
His mind wanderes until a gi-clad trainer sent out a Poliwrath
to fight. Watching it try to use Submission on its opponent
reminded him of a pair of Poliwrath that would spar at the
Day Care. The both had similar movesets. one had Surf
and Dynamic Punch while the other had Hydro Pump and
Fissure. Both had Mind Reader and Submission. It made
for interesting fights back home, since each Poliwrath would
win about half the matches.
That thought was interrupted by the referee declaring both
pokemon unable to battle. He would have to ask Becky
about the Poliwrath later. More random though funneled
through the back of his mind while watching the matches.
When Becky's Lapras used Rain Dance before fainting,
Bob had the strangest urge to break out into a chorus of
Singing in the Rain, but curbed it, deciding that the fight
between the Tentacruel and Staryu would be more interesting.
The gap between matches was boring, but now plans to deal
with the Unown flowed through his head. While he didn't
want them per se, he wanted to contain them so that they couldn't
play games with Aerie's mind. He contemplated how to extract
fight, defeat AND capture 5 shiny Unown without hurting the
fairly innocent Ditto hybrid that they resided in. During this
thought process, the second semi-final match began.
The second battle featured said Ditto hybrid against a guy
named Rudy. It was rather interesting to watch as Aerie's
Goldeen downed all three of Rudy's pokemon alone, and by
barely giving it any instruction. Her methods of defeating the first
two pokemon left something to be desired to Bob, but using
Rudy's blind rage to whoop his Starmie was simply brilliant.
Bob left quickly after the final Semi-final match, to try to concoct
a way to get the Unown to get out of Aerie. So far, the only way
Bob had thought of was to convince the Unown that there was a
better person to manipulate into snagging others to add to their
Collective.
Walking back to the Pokemon Center, he was thinking about how
Kitsu fished out a Shiny Unown out of Aerie before the tournament.
Bob's mind would have wandered farther, but he had already made it
to the Pokemon Center. Bob found a spot a couple of spots away
form a calm Becky. Raffy curled up for a nap while Bob continued
to delve into his thoughts.
