Well, here's my post. I hope it's acceptable. :-D

*Undrhil's Start*
Viridian City never really attracted much attention. Well, there was that
one incident with the PokéCenter blowing up, but that was Team Rocket's
fault. Other than that, no one gave Viridian City so much as a second
glance. Trousle Undrhil saw Viridian City as so much more, however. To
him, it was home. He had lived there all his life. He figured that he
would probably die there too, someday. He never figured on leaving town.
That is, until the day he found an EGG sitting outside his door. He took it
to the local Center to be checked out and it was determined to be a Pokémon
EGG. He carried it around with him all the time, never wanting to take it
out of his sight. He bought a Pokéball and actually managed to make the EGG
go into it, essentially capturing his first Pokémon.
He had the EGG for a couple of days and was just starting to wonder if there
was something else he was supposed to be doing for the Pokémon inside to
mature enough to come out of the EGG. He had just come home from the Mart
when the EGG started hatching. He was so excited! He was about to be the
newest Pokémon trainer from Viridian City. He had been daydreaming about
this ever since he got the EGG! He imagined a Totodile hatching from it.
And then a Charmander. His most recent imagining was a Bellsprout. He
watched as the EGG started to open and he could hear little sounds from
inside of it.
Suddenly, the EGG burst apart and revealed the Pokémon inside! It was blue,
with what looked like light purple antennas coming out of it's head on both
sides. It had three purple stripes on it's belly. It wasn't any of the
Pokémon Trousle had been studying about recently. He couldn't tell what it
was. He took up the Pokémon and it's Pokéball and ran to the Pokémon Center
to show it to Nurse Joy.
"Nurse Joy! Nurse Joy! The EGG hatched!" he shouted as soon as the doors
to the center opened.
"Oh my! What kind of Pokémon hatched from it?" Nurse Joy asked.
"I don't know. I was hoping you could tell me. I've never seen one like it
anywhere," Trousle said. He handed the Pokéball containing the new Pokémon
to Nurse Joy.
"Now then," she said, "let's see what we have here." She released the
Pokémon from the ball.
"Wooper woo woop?" the Pokémon said, looking at Trousle behind Nurse Joy.
"It's ok, little Wooper, I'm not going to hurt you," Nurse Joy said. She
turned to Trousle and said, "Wow. You're very lucky. This is a Wooper, a
water/ground Pokémon from the Johto region. I wonder how it's EGG managed
to find it's way to Viridian City?"
She handed the Pokéball back to Trousle and said, "Well, it's healthy and
ready to leave. You might want to consider giving it a name sometime." As
she walked away from Trousle, he recalled the Wooper back into it's
Pokéball.
He sat in the Pokémon Center for about 20 minutes just staring at the
Pokéball in his hand. He had never even thought of becoming a Pokémon
trainer, at least not seriously. His friends had all gone through the
Pokémon trainer stage but had grown out of it rather quickly when they
discovered 'other activities'. Trousle had always known that he would stay
in Viridian City, but now, he had a ticket out of town. He could raise this
Wooper and catch more Pokémon. He sighed quietly. "Why did this have to
happen now?" he thought to himself.

Trousle walked along the road leading to Pallet Town. He had determined
that he would go talk to Professor Oak, who happened to live there, and
maybe even catch a glimpse of the famous Gary Oak, Professor Oak's grandson
and current gym leader for Viridian City's Pokémon Gym. He had seen Gary
Oak fight in the Viridian City gym a long time ago, back when Giovanni had
been the gym leader. Gary Oak had been fantastic. His control over his
Pokémon was superb, almost as if they were all the same being. It was as if
his pokémon knew what attack he was going to have them use. If it hadn't
been for that mystery pokémon that Giovanni had been using, Gary surely
would have won the match.
Trousle walked into Professor Oak's lab and up to one of the Aide's, "Excuse
me. Is Professor Oak here?"
"He sure is. Just go on in. He's always expecting Pokémon trainers," the
Aide said and continued with her work. Trousle had started to correct her
and tell her that he wasn't a Pokémon trainer, but he stopped and thought
about it. "Aren't I a trainer now?" he thought.
He walked into the back of the lab and was so distracted by his thoughts
that he almost ran into Professor Oak, who had his back to the door.
"Oh! Professor Oak! Excuse me! My name's ... "
"Wait, wait. I'm reading this email I just received from Professor Elm.
Give me a minute."
Trousle waited patiently for the professor to finish his email and turn
around to look at him. "Now then, " Professor Oak said, "What did you say
your name was again?"
"Undrhil. Trousle Undrhil. I'm from Viridian City. I sent you an email
earlier letting you know that I would be stopping by. I hope you received
it."
"Trousle? Oh yes, you hatched a Wooper, did you? Well, I must say, you are
extremely lucky! Those Pokémon are normally only found in Johto, except for
a few instances that we have found them here. But to be given an EGG ...
someone must have thought highly of you, to give you an EGG with Wooper
inside it. Now then, what were you coming to see me about?"
"Well, Professor, I wanted to find out what I would need to become a Pokémon
trainer. Is there a test I have to take?"
"There certainly is a test that you have to take ... and you've already
taken it. When you found out that that was a Pokémon EGG and you decided to
hatch it, you passed the test. You have the dedication to be a Pokémon
trainer, perhaps even a Master some day. I'll even help you a little bit
along your way. Take these PokéBalls. These are specially made ones from
Kurt in Johto. These are specifically designed to catch fast Pokémon, but I
assume they would work for any Pokémon, just not as well. Please, take them
as my gift to you."
Trousle took the Pokéballs from Professor Oak and placed them in his
backpack. "But Professor, how do I know which Pokémon are fast Pokémon?
For that matter, how do I know which Pokémon are which?"
"I tell you what. Go ahead and travel to Pewter City. Meet with my Aide
there and he will give you a PokéDex, which will allow you to identify many
of the Pokémon you will see in the wild. I'll phone ahead so he will know
you are coming."
"Thank you, Professor! This is so wonderful! I can't wait to start
catching Pokémon!" Trousle turned to leave, but felt a hand placed gently
on his shoulder.
"Trousle, you must understand a few things about Pokémon. It's not all
about catching them. It's about loving them. You have to be kind to your
Pokémon and they will grow to love you in return. To some people here,
Pokémon are for fighting. For other, they are pets. And for the truly
dedicated Pokémon Masters, they are friends." With that, Professor Oak
turned back around to look at his computer screen.
Trousle stood in the door for a minute longer before finally heading out of
Professor Oak's lab and back towards Viridian City.
