"Woo, we're finally here!" Robert tells his two human traveling partners
as they enter the city of Ecruteak from the west, "That walk took longer
than I expected... So, are you two going to head straight for the Gym
now? It's located right down this street, on the right side."
"Might as well." Travis, one of Robert's traveling partners, shrugs, "I
was thinking of visiting the Pokemon Center first, but my Pokemon are
barely injured. Wild Magnemite really don't stand a chance against two
trained Golem and a Hitmonlee."
Hearing the comment, the three Pokemon standing near Travis - Robert's
Golem, Stone the Golem, and Fireslap the Hitmonlee - all assume
different fighting stances.
"If only I had brought my Golem along the first time I went through that
Route," comments Robert, "The only Pokemon on my team that time were my
Farfetch'd and my Seadra, who was still a Horsea then. Let's just say
they didn't care much for the Magnemite's electrifying personalities."
"Ouch," observes Becky, Robert's other traveling partner. She cracks her
knuckles and concurs with Travis, "Let's go to the Gym. My Pokemon are
also ready to battle. Well, at least the ones I plan to send out
against... Morty? That is what you said his name was, right Robert?"
"Yeah, the Ecruteak City Gym Leader is called Morty and he trains Ghost
Pokemon." Robert explains, "Watch out for his Gengar's Shadow Ball -
it's really powerful! Anyway, since I already earned a Fog Badge..."
Robert points at the small dark blue Badge pinned on his black shirt, "I
want to go sightseeing in the city today. I'll meet up with you two
tonight at the Pokemon Center - good luck with your matches!"
"Have fun, Robert," says Travis and Becky says, "See ya later, Robert!"
Travis, Becky, Stone, and Fireslap all walk down the street they're on
towards the Ecruteak City Gym, leaving Robert alone with his Golem.
"See those, Golem?" Robert points north to the Burned Tower, then moves
his finger over to point at the taller Tin Tower, "The last time I was
in Ecruteak, after I earned a Fog Badge I was in such a hurry to leave
the city that I didn't explore either of those two towers."
Golem gazes up at the tall towers and comments, "Gol. Golem gol."
Robert starts walking north to the Burned Tower, deciding to explore it
first since it's the nearest one. His Golem walks behind him, glancing
around at the beautiful homes and foliage of Ecruteak on the way there.
When Robert and his Golem approach a fence in front of the Burned Tower,
a black-haired girl standing near the fence hears their footsteps and
turns around before they arrive at the fence to tell him, "Three big
Pokemon ran off in different directions. What were they?"
"I don't know..." Robert shrugs and asks, "What did they look like?"
"Huh." The girl appears confused.
Robert clarifies, "What did the three big Pokemon that ran off in
different directions look like?"
"Oh, I heard your question - I just found it weird that you asked it."
"Why would you find that weird?"
"I've been coming out here every day for the past few years since I saw
the Pokemon run off and no one's ever even attempted to answer my
question. Do you know how frustrating it is to ask a question over and
over again for years and have everyone you ask it to ignore you?"
"Yeah - that WOULD get rather annoying." Robert nods and tries to relate
with the girl, "I know I get annoyed when people ignore me or laugh at
me when I tell them I believe my Farfetch'd will evolve someday."
"Well, maybe your Farfetch'd WILL evolve..." The girl smirks, "When a
Swinub uses Fly! Hahahaha!"
Robert narrows his eyes, "Do you want me to help you identify the three
Pokemon that ran off or not?"
"I'm sorry..." The girl stifles her laughter, "It's been so long since
I've interacted with another human being. Anyway, to answer your earlier
question, the three Pokemon were really big and though they were about
the same size, each one looked different. One had yellow fur, the other
had orange fur, and the third had blue fur."
Robert suggests, "They all had fur, eh? Maybe they were Dog Pokemon?"
"Hey, maybe they were!" The girl's eyes light up, her question finally
answered, "But if they were dogs, that begs another question..."
"What's that?"
"Who let the dogs out? Huh, huh, huh, huh?"
"I don't know."
"Who let the dogs out? Huh, huh, huh, huh?"
"I already told you - I don't..."
"Who let the dogs out? Huh, huh, huh, huh?"
Robert slowly backs away from the crazy girl who's clearly obsessed with
asking questions until they're answered. In doing so, he bumps into a
sign. He turns around and reads it out loud, "Burned Tower - it was
destroyed by a mysterious fire. Please stay away, as it is unsafe."
The girl repeats, "Who let the dogs out? Huh, huh, huh, huh?"
"That's it, I'm out of here!" Robert runs off, followed by his Golem,
hoping that the people who hang out at the Tin Tower are sane.
