He recalled the bird and entered the PC, overhearing a feew muymbles, happy sounding, about Evir. Hearing the door ring, Nurse Joy awoke. "Bo, Prof. Birch called earlier," she said. "Thanks." He went to the phone and dialed Birch's number. Instead of getting the Professor, he was treated to some stupid away-from-home ditty and a letter printing from the underneath the slot. After reading this letter, Bo walked up to the desk, reached into his pack and got a package and a pokeball. "Nurse Joy, I need you to register another pokemon for me. And keep it low," he said sadly. Joy took the pokeball. "OK. Salamence, Level 83 or 84, 9'2'', 400 lbs, grey with black wings, special moves: Aeroblast, Earthquake, Sacred Fire, Zap Cannon, Shock Wave. All done." "Thanks. Oh, give this to Evir at 9:15 tonight, room 4E14. I've got some friends setting up a surprise party." "I already know. Today's his birthday. Where is he?" "Figures he'd tell you everything except his safe combination. Probably sleep." "That too. You look sad." "My other Salamence had to leave for family reasons." "Aww." In room 4E14, several of their friends were working to make the old storage room suitable for a party, hurrying to get it done before 8 pm. Already, tables were set up, a few presents were in the corner, and ribbons were hung. The cake and sound system would arrive within the hour and the food in two. Hopefully, this party would be perfect. 9:13 pm Nurse Joy led a blindfolded Evir to room 4E14. "Where're we going now?" Evir groaned. "Just keep quiet. we'll be there soon," Joy said, opening the door and removing the blindfold. "SURPRISE!!!" everyone yelled. "Happy birthday," Bo and Joy said. "Where's the cake, I'm starving," Evir said, surprisingly uncaptured by the flashing lights and loud music that just came on. "Save that appetite for our date," Joy whispered. They danced for about twenty minutes until the cake's smell got to them. Everyone sings "Happy Birthday" to Evir as he blows out the candles. "Now the presents," Bo whispered. The first two gifts were wallets filled with money, most of the rest were clothes except for one person giving him a Minature TV/DVD player and the cute girl hiding in a corner gave him money and a baby Growlithe. Finally, Evir got to Bo's gift. Inside the box were two outfits, a small metal ball, and a set of Ultra Balls. Evir held up the ball. "What is this," he asked, shaking and activating it. Immediately his body was encased in metal. Everyone laughed as Evir tried to move and talk. Bo simply squeezed the opposite wrist and the Metal Coat retracted to the ball form. "Shoulda known that one was yours," Evir said, swiping at Bo. Bo dodged. "I give everyone a Metal Coat at thier birthday parties." Joy then gave Evir an equally large package, which included new shoes and a baby Aron, courtesy of Bo. They then get to the cake, Evir cutting the first slice. While everyone was busy eating, Evir and Joy stepped out. "Where to?" Evir asked. "Somewhere close. Who knows what'll happen between now and when we get back." They walk to a nice restaraunt just a block away from the PC and have a lavish dinner. Then they go to the movies across the street and wach a comedy. When it was over, at the PC just before Evir staggered to his room, Joy kissed him. Just before he hits the bed, he thinks, <This was the best birthday ever!> The next day, Evir's standing on the Ice Field, awaiting his opponent.
