The Youngster starts telling him, "When my Pokemon ate an Oran Berry..." The man snaps, "It regained HP! I know! That's the ninth time you've told me that, kid, and it's really getting old." "I just think it's cool, is all." The Youngster frowns and walks away. "Look at me - snapping at a little kid... I've been waiting here for way too long." The man sighs, stands up, and approaches the front desk, where a nurse named Joy is ready to treat any sick Pokemon brought into the Center. He asks the nurse, "Are you sure the guy who knows how to program Pokenav profiles will be here soon? I've been waiting in this Center since noon yesterday and it's going to be 4 PM soon." Nurse Joy nods, "He will be here shortly, Marvin - please take a seat." "I'm just saying, if it's going to take much longer, I would like to go visit my Ditto back in Littleroot Town." Marvin says, "They're like family to me and I haven't seen them in days. I miss them so much!" "Why don't you call them?" Nurse Joy suggests, pointing towards a corner of the Center, "There's a bunch of courtesy phones over there." "I forgot to ask Professor Birch for his number and it's not listed in the phonebook," laments Marvin, "I guess that's to keep stalkers away, being that he's famous around these parts. Personally, I wish *I* had a stalker-problem, but noooo, no one wants to stalk me. Just once, I'd like a crazed fan or a psychopathic love-sick woman to chase after me!" "Uh... I can't help you with that, sir." Nurse Joy sweatdrops and flips through a rolodex on her desk, "But I can get you Professor Birch's number. I have it on file. He's come here to have Poochyena removed from his buttocks many times in the past." "..." Marvin blinks twice and sweatdrops before saying, "Okay then." Nurse Joy comments, "For some reason, the Dark Dog Pokemon are quite fond of Biting the good Professor." "Ohhh, they BITE his butt!" Marvin wipes his brow, "That's a relief." "Here it is! I found his number." Nurse Joy leans in and whispers the number in Marvin's ear so that no one else in the Center can hear it. "Thank you!" Marvin races to the nearest phone, dials the number he was just given, and stares the phone's screen intently as he waits for someone to pick up. The likeness of Professor Birch appears on the screen, "Hi, Marvy!" "Hello, Professor Birch, are either of my..." Marvin stops short and asks, "Hey, wait a minute, did you just call me Marvy?" "Yepteedoo! It's me, Famifax! Fersure!" Though Famifax continues to look like Professor Birch as she speaks, the pitch of her voice goes high, "Haha, can't pull a fast one on you, Marvy. You wouldn't BELIEVE how many peeps I fooled today! I thinks I mighta even saved Birchy's marriage when his wife called - let's just say Birchy's in for a biiiig surprise when he gets back home from his field research tonight!" The Professor's lookalike winks and a wide, impish grin appears on her face. Marvin smiles, "I've missed you so much, Famifax! How have you been?" "Really, really, really good!" Famifax's male arm reaches off-screen and pulls a young scientist over, embracing him from the side and running her hairy fingers through his wild green hair, "I've become very buddy-buddy with Assy here!" Marvin raises an eyebrow, "Assy? Uhm... I might regret asking this, but why'd you give him that nickname?" Famifax giggles, "It's short for assistant, silly Marvy!" She kisses the assistant on the cheek as she continues to play with his hair. Professor Birch's assistant complains, "I really wish you wouldn't be so intimate with me when you look like the Professor, Famifax..." "Assy, you're so adorable!" Famifax giggles, puts her fingers up to the scientist's face, and presses on his cheeks, "What would you rather I be? I'll be whatever you want me to be!" Marvin clears his throat, "Famifax, before you continue to... play with your new... friend, is Xerox in the Lab? I'd like to talk with her." "Sorry, Marvy, sis is out doin' field research with Birchy, whatever that means." Famifax says, "I'll tell her you called, though." "Thank you," says Marvin, "And tell her I miss her too. Now I'll leave you two alone. Have fun! ...but not TOO much fun. Bye!" "Don't worry, Marvy, I'm a good girl!" Famifax giggles, "Buh-bye, now!" That said, the screen shuts off. Marvin turns around and notices that a young man with dark blue hair is now standing near the Pokemon Center's PCs. He briskly walks over to the man and tells him, "Hi, my name's Marvin. Do you happen to know how to set Pokenav profiles? I've got a Pokenav here..." Marvin reaches into one of the many pockets in his tuxedo, pulls out a tan Pokenav, and smiles, "And I was wondering if you could help me set my profile." "Hello there, Trainer!" The man remarks, "You've got a wonderful smile." "I don't see what that has to do with setting a profile, but thank you!" Marvin's smile grows wider, "You pretty much have to have a great smile when you work in show business." "To answer your question, yes, I do know how to set Pokenav profiles. In fact, I'm the only person this side of Rustboro who knows how." The man takes the Pokenav from Marvin's hand, opens the case, and asks, "You said you were in show business - where are you from and what do you do?" Marvin replies, "Well, I grew up in Kanto's Pewter City, but I now have an apartment in Johto's Goldenrod City. I'm a magician." "Okay." The blue-haired man enters the information into the magician's Pokenav, "What's your strategy during Pokemon battles?" "Dazzle and amaze my foes!" "What's your favorite type of Pokemon?" "Magical ones." "Now give me a brief self-introduction." "I'd like to be a world-renown magician and have crazed fans." The man inputs the last bit of information into Marvin's Pokenav, closes its case, hands it back to the magician, and says, "You're all set!" "Thanks! Now I can finally go to Rustboro City!" Marvin shakes the man's hand and heads outside the Pokemon Center. Once outside, he takes a deep breath of fresh air and starts heading west, having already plotted out his trip. It's not long before he finds himself outside the city limits. After a short walk up a dirt path on Route 104, Marvin finds himself entering the dark forest known as Petalburg Woods. However, since there aren't any dirt paths in the Woods, it's not long before Marvin is completely lost in the forest, unsure of how to reach his destination. -Marvin
