From: Rob (robfrompw@yahoo.com) Subject: [PW!] [SC] Robert Finds Aerie Very Scary Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2003-12-16 18:54:32 PST "Uh-oh... I have to face HER?" Robert starts biting his nails the moment he glances up at the giant computer screen behind the front desk in Silver Town's Pokemon Center. The screen reads: Semi-Finals of the Silver Conference: Match 1: [ Smasher ] vs. [ Bo ] Match 2: [ Aerie ] vs. [ Robert ] Many memories flood Robert's mind when he sees the little purple-haired girl's name next to his on the screen. The first thing Robert remembers about Aerie is the intense airborne battle she had with the person who looked just like her right after the sixth match of Round One was over. He then recalls the battle she won against P-Masta J earlier today. Next, he remembers the many battles of last year's Whirl Cup Competition that she won really quickly and the unorthodox battle tactics she used to win said battles. Finally, he remembers that she was shot during the Whirl Cup but managed to survive despite this fact. "Hi!" The cute little squeak startles Robert out of his train of thought. He turns around to face the person who greeted him. Seeing no one in his direct line of sight, he glances down to see a three-foot tall purple-haired girl waving one hand at him. "Hello... there..." He's frightened by the girl's presence due to his recent memories of her. "Don't be scared," Aerie doesn't need to be a master of telepathy to tell that Robert's scared of her. "I just wanted to say hi." "Oh... okay then..." Robert sweatdrops, reaching behind his head, "I hope we have a great battle tomorrow in the Semi-Finals!" "I can tell we will based on what I've seen so far," says Aerie, "You've shown yourself to be a capable Trainer who actually cares about his Pokemon. Even when one tried to kill you just tried to calm him down. Your only real flaw is that you use Pokeballs, but I can forgive that." Robert isn't sure how to respond to the compliment, "Uhhh... Thanks?" "Aaaanyway, my friends and my dad are waiting for me in the Cafeteria. I just came out to see if the latest matchups had been posted. Bye!" Aerie smiles at Robert then skips all the way to the Center's Cafeteria. Robert shudders as he watches Aerie leave the lobby. Since Aerie had all her Pokemon roaming free around her during the first two rounds of the Silver Conference, he knows which Pokemon make up her team. Though he's familiar with the five Pokemon on her team that are native to Kanto, he's unfamiliar with the one Pokemon that's native to Johto. To remedy this situation, he wanders to the nearest computer, brings up Aerie's registration information, and clicks on one of the images that appear. "Ewwwww!" is Robert's response when the Heracross' image enlarges on the computer screen, "That's one of the most disgusting Bug Pokemon I've ever seen!" Eager to look away from the image, his gaze shifts to the information next to the picture. He skims through it, surprised to find out that Heracross have Fighting Pokemon attributes. "This sounds like a job for... Slowbro!" Robert pushes a button on the computer's keyboard and a videophone program appears on the screen. Shortly after Robert dials his girlfriend's number, Mithril-rama's face appears on the screen. "Hey, Robert! How was your match?" "It was good, for the most part..." Robert glances down at the Pokeball resting within the sixth slot on his Pokeball belt and shudders again, "The battle was held on a Water Field. When it was time for me to send out my last Pokemon, I dropped Charmeleon's Pokeball into the pool by accident. After climbing out of the water and onto a small platform in the pool, he went berserk, thinking that I dropped his Pokeball in the water on purpose, and he started attacking me. He went so far as to finally evolve into a Charizard so he could fly after me to hurt me!" "Somehow, I always figured that'd the only reason he'd evolve." Rilli comments, "Then what happened? I'm guessing he didn't fly after you since you're at the Pokemon Center and not a hospital." Robert nods, "Ben, my opponent, had a Dragon Pokemon that distracted him long enough for me to find his Pokeball. Charizard defeated his Dragon Pokemon and I was able to recall him before he could hurt me. I won the match because Charizard was, in theory, battling for me since I sent him out. I plan to trade him for a new Fire Pokemon as soon as possible." Mithril-rama says, "Good idea." Robert's stomach rumbles. He puts his hand on it then says, "I'm going to go have dinner now, Rilli, but before I go can you please send me Slowbro?" Robert explains, "My next opponent has a Fighting Pokemon, so I might need Slowbro's psychic attacks on my side." "Sure. I have his Pokeball right here." Rilli reaches into her purse and produces the Pokeball containing Slowbro. "I'll send you Hitmonchan in exchange." Robert pulls his Hitmonchan's Pokeball off his belt and places it on the Pokeball slot next to the computer. After Rilli places Slowbro's Pokeball on the slot on her side, Robert pushes the button on the keyboard that initiates the Pokeball transfer. Seconds later, Robert grabs Slowbro's Pokeball and attaches it to the first slot on his belt. He says, "Thanks, Rilli - I'll call you from my room after I have dinner to tell you more about my match!" Mithril-rama smiles, "I'll be waiting for your call. Enjoy your meal!" "Thanks!" Once Rilli's face disappears from the computer screen, Robert closes the videophone program and heads to the Cafeteria. -Robert
