A few minutes later, Aerie stood in front of the tower, frustration
breeding anger breeding frustration. She knew that much anger was not a
good thing to carry around, especially outside combat, so with what
little calm she still possessed, she focussed all her pent up rage and
anger and sorrow and frustration and guilt that she let her friend be
taken from her and used it to fuel her body's natural abilities...
Keaton only caught it out of the corner of his eye. It was Kitsu's
abrupt stop and deer in the headlights look that made him fully notice
what seemed to be a dazzling fireworks show at the Burned Tower. He
immediately changed course to investigate, his hand on his sister's
shoulder prompting her body to follow even as her mind tried to take in
the indescribable outpouring of energy. Behind her, a few amateur
videographers tried to capture the scene on tape; alas, their cameras
would record only the video and audio aspects which, while impressive
enough on their own to be worth showing, lacked the psychic aura and
presence Aerie was blasting out along with everything else. Fortunately
for Aerie, these tapes did not quite capture the source, with a small
building or two between her and them.
Kitsu and Keaton were the only ones in line of sight when Aerie
collapsed, spent. Most of her negative emotions had exhausted
themselves as planned, but a little bit remained, a piece that could not
be dealt with in the same manner. She knew how she could rid herself of
that, too; such was her planning that she did not even question her
fortune when she looked up and glimpsed the pair through eyes blurry
with tears. Instead, she just ran to Kitsu, buried her face in the
older girl's belly while hugging for support, and for the second time
that day, bawled her sorrow away.
Kitsu looked at Keaton, surprise on her face. Then she and Keaton
took a quick look around. Upon seeing no one else, they looked back at
each other and silently mouthed "Bob" in unison.
