From: Rob (robfrompw@yahoo.com) Subject: [PW!] [SC] The Closing Ceremonies of the Silver Conference Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2003-12-30 19:30:08 PST Robert, the winner of this year's Silver Conference, stands next to the short old man known as Mr. Goodshow on the Silver Stadium's Platform shortly after the Final Round match that ended in tragedy. Mr. Goodshow is wearing his usual backwards purple baseball cap, red shirt with blue stripe, khaki shorts, and sandals, and he's presently holding a trophy. While Robert would normally have a huge smile on his face after earning the highest honor a Pokemon Trainer can receive in Johto, his smile is weak since his missing opponent from the Final Round is on his mind. Mr. Goodshow speaks into the microphone placed in-between himself and Robert, "Congratulations, young man! I have read that you believe in maintaining a variety of Pokemon Types on your team and that you created your Diversity Gym with the intention of showing people how important having a good balance of Pokemon Types is to winning matches. In the battles you've fought here, you have showed us that you practice what you preach. I am proud to pronounce you Silver Conference champion!" Robert proudly accepts the golden trophy and the check for $25,000 that Mr. Goodshow hands him after his speech. A silver plaque on the trophy's wooden base reads, "Robert Peterson from Lavender Town, Silver Conference Champion". A small golden pillar stems from the trophy's wooden base, holding up a large golden Pokeball. Despite the tragedy in the Final Round, many people in the audience cheer, not blaming Robert for what happened to Smasher. Robert pockets the check then hugs his Silver Conference trophy with one arm as he speaks into the microphone set up near him, "I'd like to thank my girlfriend Rilli, who helped me get to where I am today. I'd also like to thank my mentor, Mr. Fuji, Bill Door of Kanto's Lighthouse, my parents, and everyone who helped me get to where I am today. I hope that Adam "Smasher" Samson is found and treated for his injuries soon - he fought valliantly throughout this Silver Conference and I consider him one amazing Pokemon Master." The crowd applauds again, collectively hoping that Smasher will be found alive and not too injured. When the cheering dies down, Mr. Goodshow speaks into the microphone again, "This year's Silver Conference has officially come to an end. I'd like to thank all the aspiring Pokemon Masters who participated. It is thanks to all of you that this Tournament was such a success. May everyone here find much happiness and good fortune in the new year!" Robert continues hugging his trophy as he waves at the crowd. He's then ushered off the stage by Mr. Goodshow, who leads him through a secret underground tunnel that connects the Silver Stadium and Silver Town's Pokemon Center, so he won't get harassed by reporters on his way out. After arriving at the Pokemon Center's lobby and saying farewell to Mr. Goodshow, Robert carries his golden trophy up to his room on the third floor, where he plans to hide out until he tells his girlfriend what just happened using his Pokegear and he figures out where to go next. -Robert
