He turned around and was surprised to see a Porygon2 floating there. "Hello Smasher," the Porygon2 droned. Smasher blinked before realizing who was addressing him. "Basil? Hey, how's it been, dude?" "I've been fine, Smasher," Basil replied. Without an ounce of emotion, the former AI added, "Considering what you did to me in Fuschia." "Hey, yeah, sorry about that," Smasher apologized. "It's not something I'm proud of." "I understand completely, Smasher," Basil said. "I would've done the same thing in your position." "Thanks," Smasher said. Basil's oddly reassuring tone put him ill at ease. "But I'm not here to reminisce, Smasher. Nor am I seeking an apology. I merely assumed that you would be interested in knowing that I will be officiating your match against Bo Harukane." "They let Pokemon referee matches?" "Not as such. I must inform you that I will impartial within 99.999998% accuracy." "What happened to the last two billionths?" "99.999997% accuracy." "Okay. So why are you telling me this?" "I figured it was human custom, considering our history. I must now take my position. As they say in show business, 'Break a leg.'" Moments later, Smasher was standing opposite the SHAKKmaster on the field. The default court slid away, replaced by the terrain known as the Ice Field. "This is Smasher's second battle on the Ice Field," the announcer explained. "His opponent, the SHAKKmaster, was previously battling on the Grass Field. Will the change in terrain cause SHAKKmaster to slip up, or will victory simply give Smasher the cold shoulder?" Without warning, a white, cylindrical pod crashed to Earth with the spikes on the bottom imbedding themselves in the referee's position next to the court. The pod rose out of the crater and opened to reveal a white robot with hands painted in red and green. "The arena is a designated Pokémon Battle Area," the robot said. "Area scanned...
