The City of Mauville ... a fairly quiet city even though it's home to
both Hoenn's electric gym and their Game Corner.
However, the hustle and bustle of the city isn't the issue. The current
issue is the night sky, or at least the stars. A young being, a hybrid actually,
was sitting in one of the highest branches he could get to in the tallest tree
with line-of-sight to the Pokemon center. Above in the sky, a few of the
native Taillow and a couple of the evolved Swellow were flying about in the
cool evening breezes. Perched in a tree nearby, content to watch the
birds fly was a Pidgeotto, a bird pokemon not native to Hoenn.
Bob lazed in the tree, sitting up against the trunk while one leg dangled
in the air. He was busy staring up at the night sky, where the stars twinkled.
"Bullet?" Bob asked, not bothering to look at the bird pokemon. He was
too busy being hypnotized by the stars.
The Pidgeotto turned his head to looked at the breeder. "Pidge?"
"Bullet, what's it like to fly free in the sky? Without worries or cares," Bob asks
Bullet, stunned by the question, uses its memories and thoughts to think of
an answer. Bob turned his head to look towards the bird, whose eyes were
sparkling. He smiled, apparently the Pidgeotto had found the answer.
"Thanks Bullet. You know, you can go fly around.. I don't think that they're
going to hurt you." Bob noted, motioning skyward where the few Taillow were,
not that the young breeder could identify them by name.
Bullet ruffled his feathers, but didn't move.
"All right," Bob said, snickering. "Stay there then." He fidgeted around a bit,
swapping the leg on the tree branch with the one dangling in the air. His gaze
fell to ground level, where a couple of people were wandering the streets.
Also a few of the more nocturnal pokemon were scurrying about also.
The idea of normal worries ... it seemed so far away to Bob now. After
spending the last while avoiding various enemies, meeting some of the
strangest looking and most powerful beings on two regions, and even a wild
ride through time. Now was a rare moment of calm in the breeder's life.
Bob sighed, while thinking of a nice calm life at the Day Care. To him it
was a dream that may never happen. Again, he looked skyward. The stars
were a bit brighter, but night had not fully fallen. Somehow, during his
musings, Bob fell asleep.
The only clue that Bob had fallen asleep came when he woke up. First
of all, the moon had risen higher in the sky, betraying the fact that time had
passed. More important, however was the little green and yellow thing
that was nestled up against him, sound asleep. The pokemon was only
about one foot tall top. From what the breeder could tell, it was just a
baby pokemon, and like any sleeping baby pokemon, it looked cute.
Down below, a loud call broke the silence of the night. Quickly using a
brief puff of Sleep Powder so that the bundle of fur would stay asleep,
Bob looked down at the source of the annoyance. It was an older man,
with white hair and apparently a loud voice. It sounded like he was full
of spunk. Through the darkness, Bob couldn't make out much, but he did
catcha lightning bolt on the sleeve whatever the guy was wearing while
he was looking aobut the bushes behind the Center, near the tree the
breeder was watching from.
When he left, Bob sighed. 'Wonder who he was looking for?' Bob
thought to himself, absently sratching the little green pokemon's side,
causing it to make contented noises while it slept. It wasn't long before
the same contented noises put Bob to sleep again.
