(No, I haven't gone crazy, that's the title!)
Trent approached the door to the Cianwood Gym slowly. He held his gun in his
right hand and next to him, Ashura prepared himself for a battle. Gym leaders
had a tendency to fight any intruders, so he and Trent both knew they would be
in for some action.
"Let's make this good, Ashura." Trent leaned back and kicked the door with
enough force to knock it off its hinges... except that didn't happen. The door
was too strong, and all Trent managed to do was push off the door and fall on
his back, much to Ashura's amusement. "Shut up! So they've got a good door,
that just means it'll be more fun to knock it down." Trent took a moment to
stand up before ordering Ashura to ram the door down. Ashura rolled into a ball
and began to roll in place to gather speed, then flew at the door... but to no
avail. Ashura bounced off and rolled along the ground before stopping, sitting
up, and grabbing his head.
"Slaaaaaaash..."
"Ha! HAHAHA! Not so funny NOW, is it?"
"Slash slash slash!"
"That a promise? Okay, let me try this..." Trent held his gun with both
hands to steady it (keep in mind that Trent doesn't have the best aim) and
pointed it at the doorknob. He fired three shots, all of which ricocheted and
flew off in random directions, forcing Ashura to duck for cover. The doorknob
didn't have a single dent on it. "Okay, this is starting to piss me off. Let's
try something else."
"Sand?"
"Yes, that! Stand back!" Trent and Ashura stepped several feet away from the
door. Trent took a Pokéball (or at least, something that looked like a silver
Pokéball)and held it near his eye to adjust his aim, then threw it as hard as
he could at the doorknob, quickly turning away from the resulting explosion.
Rocks near the door flew at them and some startled Hoothoot flew away, but
otherwise...
The suspense is killing you, isn't it?
...The door was unharmed!
"Sand sand slash?"
"Because I don't feel like it! It's got to be dramatic! We want to scare
them into giving us the information! What good will it do if we just walk in
and ask?"
"Excuse me," a young boy said as he passed them, opened the door, and walked
in.
"See? You want to be like that puss-faced kid there? Great, let's all act
like Ash fucking Ketchum and stumble into success! No, it doesn't work that
way, Ashura! Now let's try this again... we'll knock the walls down if we have
to!" Trent took three Pokébombs, one between each finger on his right hand, and
threw them at the door.
"Slash."
"Smooth indeed." The explosions scarred the walls and burned the exterior
paint, but the smoke was still too thick for the door to be seen. When it
finally cleared, Trent found that he had succeeded. The door was crumbling, now
very fragile. "Here we go!" Trent got his gun again and kicked the door... only
to find himself back on the ground. The paint flecks fell off to reveal that
the damage was only superficial; a steel door remained.
"Sandslash! SANDSLASH!"
"Shut up. I knew it was a steel door. I thought you should see it for
yourself. Now, tunnel under the door and make us an entrance."
"Sandslash." Ashura shrugged and dug into the ground, and Trent jumped in
after them. There was a problem: the ground beneath the gym consisted of tough
rocks, too tough for Ashura to tunnel through. There was a bigger problem:
Trent was behind Ashura and blocked his exit. "SANDSLASH! SANDSLAAASH?!
SANDSLASH!"
"Hey, I can't climb your steep holes! You should've burrowed diagonally, you
damn idiot!"
"Slaaash! SLASH!" Ashura started digging another tunnel, one that sloped
diagonally, back towards the surface, but they then encountered yet another
problem...
"Hey, has that boy been lookin' for treasure again? Ever since we showed him
that movie, that's all he's been thinkin' about!" Someone on the surface was
beginning to pour the dirt back into the hole, and Ashura rushed to finish his
tunnel before they were buried. "Oh. You were in there?"
Trent answered by shooting the man. "We're out of options, Ashura," he
reluctantly told the Sandslash. "We'll just have to go without the dramatic
entrance." Trent turned the doorknob and walked inside. After Ashura shut the
door behind him, Trent's humiliation against the door was forgotten and he
continued his plan as if the incident had never occurred.
"Listen up!" he yelled, pointing his gun into the gym. "I'm looking for some
information. I get it, nobody gets hurt. You hold out on me, this place is
coming down!"
"Slash."
"Huh?" Ashura was right. Perhaps Trent should mention what information it
was that he was after. "I'm looking for a girl named Roxie! I can't quite
remember what she looks like, except I think her hair is green... or blue...
I'm not good with colors. Anyone seen her?"
TBC?
(In all honesty, I've lost track of who's where in Cianwood, so I don't even
know who's in the gym at the moment, but since things are going a little slow,
I thought I'd quicken the pace a bit. If anyone replies, feel free to change
the title)
