After an uneventful day inside the Department Store, Trousle was finally
walking back along the darkened streets of Goldenrod City towards the
Pokemon Center. He had asked many of the clerks inside about the TM he had
been given, but no one could identify which it might be. He did learn,
though, that he could attempt to teach the move to a Pokemon and it would
tell him what move it is. The only problem is that if he doesn't have a way
to stop the Pokemon from learning the move, then the TM is used up and the
move is taught to the Pokemon. He had managed to scrap together some money
by selling some Potions he had been saving up and he bought the Hidden Power
TM. He definitely wanted to teach that to his Wooper. He imagined the
little Wooper being called into batlle and then unleashing a huge blast of
power in a surprising move which would win the battle.
"Wow. I can't believe how big this place is. It's certainly a lot bigger
than Veridian City. I keep seeing people who look familiar, but I know I've
never seen them before in my life. Maybe it's just from seeing all the
people in the department store all day?" Trousle mused to himself as he
walked. He noticed several signs on the buildings. One of the buildings
was a bicycle shop. "Wow. I'll have to stop in there tomorrow and see
about getting a bicycle. I might have enough money left after buying that
TM to afford one..." his thoughts trailed off as he noticed the price tag on
the one in the window. "One million yen? What the ... ? For a bicycle?
Wow. I'll never be able to afford one of those. Maybe I can get a job
somewhere?"
He entered the Pokemon Center moments later and related to Nurse Joy about
his new TM and the fact that he had found out nothing new about the other
one. He then found out that she had known all along about being able to
teach it to a Pokemon to find out what TM it is, but she had been too busy
at the time to tell him that little tidbit of information.
"Oh, by the way, the Old Woman at the Daycare stopped in earlier and wanted
to know what you thought about your Wooper, " Nurse Joy said.
"What about my Wooper? He's grown in the last two months, but that's
normal, isn't it?"
"Well, it is if you are training it, but you were unconscious, remember? We
put your Wooper and Pidgey into the Day Care a week before we brought you
here. The day care couple have been taking care of other people's Pokemon
for many years and they love their work. The old woman just wanted to see
if you would stop by later this week and visit with them for a bit. She
said that they can let your Pokemon play while you talk. She has some
information for you about the surrounding area and her husband knows a lot
about the Pokemon in this area."
"OK, Nurse Joy, I'll go visit them later. Um, can I borrow a million yen so
I can get a bicycle?" Trousle asked quickly. He didn't even take a breath
between the two sentences so it would all ran together.
"Oh, my! A bicycle costs that much? Well, I can't just give you a million
yen ... I'll have to look around and see if I might be able to let you work
some around here and earn some money. How's that sound?" Nurse Joy smiled
sweetly at him as her Chansey came running in yelling, "Chansey! Chan
Chansey Chan!" Nurse Joy turned to the Chansey with a look of dismay, "Oh
no ... not the Slugma too." She turned back to Trousle. "I'm sorry,
Trousle, but I have to get to the back. There's a Slugma and a Whismur back
there who we just cannot cure of Paralysis. We can talk more tomorrow. Go
get some sleep now, ok?"
Nurse Joy took one last moment to smile sweetly at Trousle and then dashed
quickly through the door leading into the back area of the Pokemon Center.
Trousle smiled to himself, quickly becoming infatuated with the cute Nurse.
"It's too bad she's so much older than I am. I wouldn't mind going out with
her sometime." He sighed quietly as he walked into the room he had been
assigned. "Well, at least the room is the same. Hopefully I won't drift
off into another 2 month sleep spell. Goodnight, my Pokemon friends.
Tomorrow we will explore some outside of the city!"
He draped his jacket neatly over the chair and settled onto the bed. He had
just the lamp on next to him as he stared up at the ceiling. Deep inside,
he could feel something tugging at him. Something just didn't seem quite
right. There was some memory lingering in the back of his mind that he
couldn't grasp. No matter what he tried, the memory eluded him. He settled
off into a dreamless slumber. His last thought before sleep overcame him:
"It's a two month journey from Pewter Town to Goldenrod City." But he
wouldn't remember that in the morning.
