Lisa walked into the Pokemon Center carrying Sluggie, her Slugma. It had
taken quite a beating against the last Pokemon Lisa encountered in the wild
and Lisa was counting her lucky stars to have gotten away. Sluggie squirmed
around a little in her arms, but since he trusted Lisa, his skin wasn't
burning her. Nurse Joy was just walking into the front lobby when she
spotted Lisa and Sluggie.
"Oh, my! Not again, Lisa. Chansey! I need a stretcher for a Slugma,
please, " Nurse Joy said. The Chansey behind the counter rushed off into
the back room and came out shortly with a small stretcher with what looked
like space heaters attached to the sides. When Sluggie was placed on the
stretcher, the space warmers came on and were quickly too hot for Lisa to
stand near. Slugma appeared to start feeling better already.
"You brought your Slugma here quickly today. You must not have been too far
away this time, Lisa, " Nurse Joy chided. She enjoyed picking on Lisa since
Lisa was always in the Pokemon Center with one of her Slugmas. Nurse Joy
smiled sweetly and said, "I'll be right back. I have to make sure Slugma
gets treated properly." She disappeared into the back room while Lisa sat
down in the lobby.
When Nurse Joy returned, Lisa stood up and walked over to her. "Will
Sluggie be ok?" Lisa asked.
"Of course he will be. It will take a few minutes, but he will be as good
as new, " Nurse Joy said. Then, as if realizing something important, she
asked, "Have you seen Trousle today? His mom called and left an urgent
message with us, but he hasn't been in here for a few days."
"A few days? I thought he was staying here until his mom could come and get
him?"
"He is. That's why I'm worried. If you haven't seen him, can you go look
for him? I don't know where he might have gotten to, but he shouldn't be
too far from the city, at least, I hope not. He *is* new around here and I
know of a few places where even I still get a little turned around, " Nurse
Joy said. She handed a PortaPhone to Lisa and said, "We just received this
from Professor Oak in Pallet Town. It's a portable version of the VidPhones
we have here in the Pokemon Center. If you find Trousle, you can call me
back here immediately and let me know. I'm sure he's alright, but I am
still worried."
"OK, Nurse Joy. Thanks!" Lisa turned to leave but stopped and said, "Can
you watch out for Sluggie for my while I'm gone? I don't know how long this
might take, but if I'm not back in a soon, just put him in the Day Care,
please?"
"Sure, Lisa. I can do that. I'm sure you'll be back before sundown, "
Nurse Joy smiled and went into the back room to take care of Sluggie. Lisa
walked out of the Pokemon Center. She wasn't sure where to start looking
for Trousle, but she decided to start out at the department store.

Trousle awoke in an alley somewhere in Goldenrod City. He'd been lost for a
couple of days now and was almost out of food. He had no idea where he was
or where the Pokemon Center was, but he was sure that he would find it
today. He stood up and started walking out of alley.
Before he got too far out, a small kid ran up to him and said, "Hey! You
have PokeBalls! Let's battle!" Trousle started to protest but he little
boy said, "You have to accept my challenge! I'll make it easy for you.
It'll be a one-on-one match. We can each only use one Pokemon and once it's
fainted, that's it. How's that?"
Trousle said, "OK, I guess." He pulled out the Pokeball containing his
Wooper and threw it onto the ground between boy and himself. "Go, Whoop!"
"My name's Chris, by the way. Go, Klicker!" He threw out his Pokeball and
it opened to reveal a Crabby just as Trousle's opened to reveal his Wooper.
"Wow! A Wooper! I've never battled one of those!" Chris said as the
Pokemon got into position.
"My name's Trousle and don't feel bad, I've never battled a Crabby before
either, " Trousle said. He decided to start out using Water Gun, so he
said, "Whoop! Use Water Gun, then Tackle it."
"Klicker, use Harden!"
Whoop sprayed water out of it's mouth at the crabby, but it didn't seem to
phase it. Then, the crabby ran at Whoop and tackled it, sending it flying
into some boxes. Whoop got back up and ran at Klicker, tackling it back
into Chris. Chris said, "OK, Klicker, now use Bubble!"
"Whoop, use Hidden Power!"
Whoop paused for a second before releasing waves of energy which bathed the
crabby in many colors before finally causing the crabby the topple over in
agony. Whoop stood there for a moment longer waiting for the crabby to get
back up and attack, but it didn't.
"Wow. That was a great move, Trousle. I've still got lots to learn, I see.
Klicker, return!" Chris handed Trousle $15 and walked out of the alley.
"See you around, Trousle. I look forward to beating you one day!"
"I look forward to watching you try!" Trousle said. "Whoop, return. We
have got to find the Pokemon Center soon. Hey, wait a minute..." He ran to
catch up to Chris. "Can you show me where the Pokemon Center is? I've
gotten a little turned around and I can't find it."
"I wish I could help you, Trousle, " Chris said, "but I'm supposed to be
meeting my mom at the train station in a few minutes and I need to get
there. You're welcome to follow along there. There might be someone there
who can help you out."
"Thanks!" Trousle exclaimed as they started off together towards the train
station.
