From: Have A Merry Chet Weaver and a Happy New Year (nichirasu@hotmail.com) Subject: [PW][SC] You Gotta Get Up Pikat-Early in the Morning... Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Date: 2003-12-16 15:22:23 PST Smasher is a good trainer. Damn good. You'd have to be in order to get as far as he has in the Silver Conference thus far. Yet after so many years of Pokemon training, Smasher rarely ever gets up early in the morning. At least, not when he can sleep in a bed rather than on the cold, hard Earth. Even then, the last thing on his mind is training. Most of his Pokemon were no exception and enjoyed more than a full night's sleep before an adventure. The one exception, perhaps the most exceptional, in Smasher's team is a Pikachu named Pikat-Shoo. Formerly a member of Lt. Surge's team back in the port town of Vermillion in Kanto, Pikat-Shoo proved to be one of his trickier fighters. Surge, however, had a taste for rare Pokemon, especially Electric-types, and when Smasher offered him siamese twin Pikachus for Pikat and a gym badge, the Lieutenant traded with little hesitation. But it seems you can take a Pikachu out of the militia, but you can't take the militia out of a Pikachu. Pikat-Shoo has done his best to keep Smasher's slacker lifestyle from rubbing off on him, and he's been pretty successful thus far. While Smasher slept, Pikat let himself out of his PokeBall and climbed out the nearest window. Having met with less than satisfactory results in the past, Pikat had long since stopped trying to wake up Smasher at the crack of dawn each day. Eventually, he took Smasher's off-hand comment as standing orders: "If you wanna train this early, do it yourself." The very first night Smasher enterred Silver Town, Pikat-Shoo had taken it upon himself to do some recon of the area. He quickly determined the best locations for training and every morning since then he started his routine with a jog around town. Enterprising trainers had tried to capture him on occasion even when he did this in the wild and other towns, not knowing that he was a trained Pokemon, and that gave Pikat a sparring opportunity. Pikat wasn't alone in his jog this morning and fell in step every once in a while behind other joggers and more diligently trained Pokemon. Pikat's jog ended not at the Pokemon Center but a local playground. He usually prefers excercise yards, but beggers can't be chosers and playgrounds tended to be empty in the mornings anyway. Upon arrival, Pikat-Shoo began his warm-up excercises and calisthenics. Mankey bars provided the equipment neccessary for chin-ups and the like and trees are always good for climbing. Even slides and swingsets had their uses. On-lookers felt it was quite a sight, and some thought it was even cute. When it came to combat drills, Pikat-Shoo could always find a willing partner in a wild Pokemon or a trainer. However, at his advanced level he found it difficult to find an opponent that could keep up with him. But he knew Silver Town had at least one denizen who could put up a decent fight, and he knew right where to fight him. On his jog over to this location, Pikat noticed several Hyper Beams being launched into the air from his destination. The event brought up thoughts that were a little disconcerting, so he quickened his already brisk pace to his desired battleground. Once there, he discovered his sparring partner already trading blows with a an Alakazam. He watched studiously as every punch and kick came and went with lightning-fast speed. The action only seemed to slow down when the occasional hit landed, as if to accentuate the power behind the impact. Every attack was launched at break-neck speed and infused with bone-shattering force. It was an impressive sight to behold, and Pikat-Shoo smirked at the prospect of tackling this Alakazam himslf. For a while, I thought that Alakazam was your substitute for today." "Pikapikachu pikachu!" Pikat responds. "Pi kapi pikapi?" "Of course not!" Nikolai says, dropping his pack and positioning himself into a ready stance. "I'm always ready for a fight!" "Pikapi pikachu," Pikat says, readying himself a few feet away. "Pikachu?" Nikolai smirks. "Whenever you are." To be continued...? [NS: Yeah, I'm not writing this battle and as far as I'm concerned it doesn't have to be. I just wanted to illustrate Pikat's training regimen.] -- AIM: PanGatomon MSN/E-mail: Nichirasu@hotmail.com Yahoo!
