As John stepped out of the gym, he stretched his arms and arched his
back. "Man." He muttered to himself. I feel like I've been asleep for
weeks." He started to head towards the pokemon center, when a voice
stopped him.
"That was a pretty impressive battling, bro. Especially with a water
type." John turned to see a young man with shadowy black eyes, that
had deep purple bags under them, like he hadn't been sleeping for
awhile. His hair was shaggy like John's, long in the back and down in
a simple ponytail and it was jet black, save for a blood red streak
down the left side of his bangs. Where John was tall and muscular,
this kid was slightly shorter and skinny, with thin bony limbs.
He was dressed in dark clothing, and underneath the black windbreaker
he wore, John could see a Team Magma insignia.
"Kyle." John's tone was frosty as he turned to regard the little
brother he never thought he see again. "Fancy meeting you here." He
glanced down at the Magma symbol. "Joined Team Magma, have you? I
suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Psychopath like you would fit right
in with them."
Kyle lips twisted into a snarl. "Keep talking like that and I might
not feel generous enough to warn you, like I'd planned."
John stiffened. "Warn me? About what?"
Kyle rolled his eyes exasperatedly. "That Counter attack you performed
in the Magma base you meathead! You didn't think they'd notice? I mean
come on, how thick are you? You bust in there to rescue a person with
elemental powers and you go and show off your own!"
"They're after people with pokemon abilities are they? Do they know
about yours?" John responded savagely, he was pleased to see his
brother flinch, like he'd finally remembered that John's abilities
trumped Kyle's dark type.
"Are you insane? What makes you think that I'd want to end up in one
of those tanks? I've seen the things they do to Sam. No thank you."
"Sam?!" John spat. "You gave them your own little brother? I knew you
were insane but this?"
"I didn't 'give them Sam.'" Kyle shouted back. "He was taken, from
Sabrina, so you can imagine she's on the warpath... in her own,
chess-like way. She doesn't particularly fancy having her disciples
stolen from their beds.
"No." John replied, eyes narrowed. "I suppose she doesn't."
"Look, just watch your back." Kyle continued. "I know you think I'm
crazy, hell, maybe I am, and I know you don't have a reason to trust
me." he paused. "Do it anyway." The young man's image seemed to waver,
like a badly focused projector, this with a slight puff of air and a
blink of purple light, he was gone."
John stared at the space that had just been vacated. "Great." He
muttered, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Just freaking great."
