Hydro had finally arrived in New Bark Town thanks to the help of one of Professor Oak's Aides. He now had to go to Professor Birch's Lab and meet with him. "Well, I guess it's that big building…" Hydro went up to the door to the lab and rang the doorbell. A boy a few years younger than himself answered. "May I help you?" he asked. "I was looking for Professor Birch. Professor Oak sent me." "Oh, you must be Hydro! I'm Brendan, his son. Nice to meet you!" Brendan extended his hand, which Hydro gladly accepted. "Yeah, he's not here yet. He was out studying wild Pokemon last night and stumbled in at around 11:30. He should be here soon, though." They heard a loud crash outside, and the Professor came in. Well, actually, he tripped in the doorway. "Dad! You OK?" Brendan asked. "Yeah, I'm fine. Ow…" Prof. Birch got up and saw Hydro. "Well, I guess you made it! Sorry for my tardiness. I overslept. Quite a bit, actually." "That's alright. I don't mind." Hydro told him. "Well, good. Anyway, I heard that you have a… Magikarp, was it?" "…Yes." "And it only knows Splash? Hmm… Well, I guess the best thing to do for now is to just teach it how to do tricks, like flips and stuff like that, until it learns how to Tackle or evolves." "Um, OK. But what do I do if a trainer challenges me to a battle?" "I've already thought of that. Brendan, hand me that Pokeball." Brendan took a Pokeball on Prof. Birch's desk and handed it to him. "This is a Lotad, a grass and water Pokemon. I'll call it out for you." Lotad popped out of his Pokeball. He looked at Hydro expectantly. "I think he wants a name, Hydro." Prof. Birch explained. Hydro and Lotad looked at each other for a long time. Then, "I GOT IT!" "What's it going to be, Hydro?" "Well, he looks like a Frisbee, so that's going to be his name!" Lotad, now Frisbee, looked a bit disappointed. "Well, you take good care of both Frisbee and Leviathan, and I'll see you later. Right now, I have a meeting with some other trainers." "Alright. Bye, Professor! Bye, Brendan! Thanks for everything!" And off Hydro went, into the vast world of Hoenn. To be continued…
