"The booth," Terph, a black haired woman in a purple kimono and a veil,
said to her portly companion. Said companion, Serph, a white-haired man
in blue, nodded and they sat across from each other to await their prey.
"I am not thinking they are coming," Serph said.
"They'll come," Terph said.
"I vas telling you, the right time to be doing this vas at the gala,"
Serph continued.
"The time is right," Terph said.
"This is not to be verking. Ve are failing this mission. At least ve
are knowing that Doppler not be killing us, yes?"
"Shut up, they're here. Remember, act surprised."
"I am having no problem."
Kitsu and Keaton casually entered the bar and slided into place next to
Terph and Serph. They sat around for a moment, not saying anything.
Just pretending that they're supposed to be there.
"You two are a tough couple to follow," Kitsu said finally. "You two
have quite a talent for disappearing."
"You have been following us?" Serph replied. "Vhat could you possibly
vant vith us? Ve are but being humble travelers."
"You two are far from home," Keaton answered. "Worlds away in fact."
"That's not unusual for travelers," Terph said.
"Unless you happen to be unusual travelers," Keaton said.
"How so?" Terph asked.
"Are you familiar with a place called Aenaria?" Kitsu asked.
"You are being from the homeland!" Serph exclaimed joyously. "There is
no need to be beating around the bush then, yes? How are things back home?"
"Gone, I'm afraid," Kitsu replied. "Rossiter's machinations have
destroyed it."
"The whole planet?" Serph inquired.
"Space debris," Keaton answered.
"How unfortunate," Serph said.
"I never liked that Rossiter," Terph said. "How many of us are left?"
"We're still trying to figure that out," Kitsu explained. "We've been
charged with finding our kinsmen on this world. Keaton has a stamp that
will help you go to the new homeworld once the King finds a new one."
"That Nidon is being one Hell of guy," Serph said. "But vhat if ve are
to be vanting to stay here?"
"I don't think anyone is forcing you to go," Kitsu replied. "But you
should at least go just so your friends and family know your all right."
"I think that is very good reason," Terph said.
"Right, I'll just need your hands," Keaton said. Serph produced his
hand, but Terph didn't move a muscle.
Terph noticed the other three were staring at her and said, "Oh, I keep
forgetting I have these. This form is still a little new to me."
Keaton stamped both their hands. The ink glowed for a moment before
settling into jet black.
"The ink will wear off, but the enchantment will remain," Keaton said.
"So don't worry about washing your hands or anything."
"Is King Nidon having plans for this vorld?" Serph asked.
"None that I'm aware of," Kitsu replied.
"Then he is not knowing of the situation here?" Serph prodded further.
"Situation?" Keaton asked.
To be continued...?
[NS: I'm going to stop here for now, but I do intend to finish this
conversation. Still, feel free to do whatever.]
