Keiko asked, approaching the departing nurse. "I want to thank you for trying to convince Nurse Joy not to make a big deal about me." "No problem," Marcia replied. "Also, are there any showers here I could use?" Keiko inquired. "I Surfed all the way from Copper Island, and I really want to get the sea smell out of my hair." "There are public showers in the locker rooms," Marcia explained. "They're just down that hall. The ladies locker room is on the left." "Thank you, Nurse Marcia." Keiko exited the locker room moments later, refastening her hair clip around her still-drying hair. Returning to the lobby, she found that Nurse Joy had made herself scarce, hopefully not totally out of shame. She collected her three PokeBalls from Omelette the Blissey and release her Swablu, Skyler. The cotton bird Pokemon immediately straightened out everything on Nurse Joy's desk, arranging the pens alphabetically by color, wiped down the computer monitor, and perched on Keiko's head like a blue, cotton-rimmed hat. "Swablu," Skyler chirped. "Hello to you, too, Skyler," Keiko said. "But, really, next time you should ask someone before rearranging their desk." "Swablu?" Skyler said, just now noticing where they were. "Well, let's go see what Slateport has to offer," Keiko said on her way out. "I'm sure the local Nurse Joy doesn't want us hanging around here all day." "Swablu," Skyler said indignantly. Outside, Keiko got out her PokeNav and was disappointed to see that Slateport didn't have a Pokemon Gym. Dewford would've been a better destination for that, but it wasn't terribly important to get a badge right away. The Contest House wasn't too far away, so she decided look into it. To say the desk clerk was surprised to see someone walk into the Contest House nude was no exaggeration. Still, she retained her composure much more effectively than Nurse Joy had. She prepared to handle the situation no different than if Keiko was wearing a bathing suit, which was a much more common occurance. "Excuse me, I'd like to enter a Pokemon Contest, please," Keiko requested. "I'm sorry, miss, but we have a dress code in this Contest House," the clerk said calmly, her eyes closed in indignation as much as they were in disgust. "All trainers must be fully dressed. That means more than just a bathing suit... and definitely more than a birthday suit." "That's no problem," Keiko replied. "Very well, then," the clerk said. "May I see your contest pass, please?" "Oh, I don't have a contest pass." "Then you can't enter. You'll need to go to Verdanturf Town to get one." "Verdanturf? That's a little out of the way, don't you think?" "Perhaps, it's also where the Normal Rank contests are held. This is the Hyper Rank Contest House." "Just as well, I guess. At this level, I'd probably just get eaten alive." "You most likely would." "Thanks anyway. Bye." Keiko went back outside and consulted her PokeNav. "Looks like the contest is out, Skyler," Keiko said. "There's the shipyard and the museum. Not too exciting if you ask me." "Swablu," Skyler concurred. "I think I remember hearing about the Trick House just north of here," Keiko mused. "That should be fun. Wanna check it out, Skyler?" "Swablu!" Skyler approved with flapping wings. "All right," Keiko giggled and headed for the northern entrance. "Let's go, then."
