From: "Rob" <robfrompw@yahoo.com> Subject: [PW!] Eight Mawile Date: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 11:56 PM Marvin is trapped within a small underground prison. This prison was fabricated from steel shards and shrapnel generations of Mawile had gathered over the years and is normally occupied by Nosepass that are captured as prisoners of war. Marvin is the first human who has resided within the prison, having been the first human being to take from the secret stash of goodies belonging to residents of Granite Cave's Mawile Village. Today Marvin waits, as he has been waiting for the past few days, for the only resident of the Mawile Village who likes him and might be able to break him free of his confinement - the female Mawile who saved him from Team Aqua. He hasn't seen her since he instructed her to take a message to Captain Briney. Since that day, he's been wishing for her return. When a male Mawile guard who has a key in his hand walks up to the cramped prison containing Marvin, the middle-aged man figures that his wish has just come true. Marvin crawls over to the front of his cage, eager to stand up after days of just lying on the dirt and sitting with his back hunched over, two of the few positions he has been able to assume since the Mawile in the village agreed to place him in their prison. The moment the steel bars are moved away from him, Marvin crawls out of the prison and stands up with some difficulty. "Ahhh, that feels so much - oof!" The Mawile guard nudges Marvin hard with his large steel jaw, not allowing him to savor the moment. "Maw ile maw," the guard indicates as he marches towards the village's central pool. Not wanting to anger the guard who just released him, Marvin silently follows him to the pool. When he gets to the pool, he sees a council of eight Mawile standing in a circle around the giant-jawed female Mawile who saved him. The council includes the leader of the village - a tall small-jawed Mawile, the elder of the village - a wrinkled Mawile with a sagging medium jaw, and six male Mawile who look important. Two of the six Mawile step aside, allowing the guard to lead Marvin into the circle. When the human takes his place next to his friend, the guard walks away from him and the two Mawile who stepped away return to their positions. Marvin asks the Mawile he befriended, "What's going on, Mawile? Did you give Captain Briney your message? What did he..." He cuts himself off when he sees his Mawile friend waving her arms downwards, indicating that he should stop talking. The Eight Mawile Council meeting to determine what the female Mawile's punishment should be for allowing the human to rummage and take from the community's belongings is coming to an end. Figuring he should give his citizen one more chance to show her loyalty to the village, the leader of the Mawile instructs the female Mawile on trial to inflict physical punishment upon the human or suffer permanent banishment with him, "Mawile, maw mawile maw mawile mawile ile maw." "Ilemaw!" The female Mawile declares defiantly through her enormous maw, "Maw ile mawile maw ile maw maw ile maw aw maw ile mawilemaw maw ile!" "Maw Ile Maw." The leader of the Mawile Village shakes his head in disappointment, then all eight Mawile surrounding Marvin and his Mawile friend sentence them in unison, "Maw ile MAWILE maw Mawile Ilemaw. Maw ile mawile ilemaw." They then start walking together towards the tunnel that leads out of the village, forcing Marvin and the female Mawile that has just been banned from the village to walk with them. When they reach the tunnel, the Mawile sadly crawls away from her home. Marvin hesitates, not sure if he's allowed to leave or not, but when the Mawile glare at him and point at the hole his friend just crawled through, he follows her all the way to the other side of the tunnel. Marvin crouches next to his Mawile friend, who's releasing tears that are real, unlike the Fake Tears that Mawile tend to release. He runs his hand down her small back and asks her, "What just happened back there, Mawile? Did they kick us both out of the village for good?" "Ile..." The Mawile nods her head, wiping a tear from her face with one arm. "I'm sorry if I had anything to do with that." "Maw," she shakes her head, her giant maw shifting slightly on the ground below when she does, "Ile maw MAW ile." Since she was the one who let Marvin take whatever he wanted from the village's Cache Corner, she takes full responsibility for her bannishment. "Hmm. We're in a similar predicament now..." "Maw?" "We both can't go back to our most recent homes. If I go back to Goldenrod City, I'll be arrested since people who attended the last magic show I performed there think that I stole their wallets. If you go back to your village, who knows what they'll do to you. We're both out on the lam now! We should team up!" "Ile?" "Yeah! We could help each other out, you know. I sure could use some help keeping the girl who sullied my reputation from running away the next time I see her - you could use your Bite attack to keep her from running! In exchange, I'll look after you, healing you and feeding you, and when I'm able to return to my apartment in Goldenrod City, you'll be able to settle down with me there! In the meanwhile, you'd have to live in more cramped quarters - a Pokeball, specifically, but that'll just be until I'm able to back home. Sound good?" The Mawile doesn't even need to consider Marvin's offer, especially since she has nowhere else to go now. She nods her head, replying, "Mawile!" "All right! I'm glad you're coming with me!" Marvin smiles, happy to have another Pokemon on his team - one who fully appreciates his company, as opposed to only half-appreciating it, only appreciating it during battles, or only appreciating it in bright open spaces. "Now, what happened with Captain Briney? Did write a message for me, put it in the Net Ball I sent him, and stuff it in your mouth? If so, open wide so I can read it!" "Aw, maw!" The Mawile slaps her forehead, just now remembering the reason she returned to the village in the first place - the moment she realized Captain Briney had no intention of writing Marvin a message, no matter how often she pleaded, she came down to tell him herself that the S.S. Tidal had just docked in Dewford Town. But that was two hours ago, before the Eight Mawile Council meeting started. Worried that Marvin will miss his ride off Dewford Town, the Mawile Bites Marvin's leg, ignoring his yelp, and starts to run towards Granite Cave's exit, dragging him through the cave just like she did on the day that she met him! The Mawile drags Marvin forward, right, up, left, around the corner, forward, right, behind the rock, through the tunnel, down the passage, and out into daylight! She releases her grip on the confused middle-aged man who's golden tuxedo is now seriously torn in addition to smelly and dirty and she points towards the giant cruise ship docked at Dewford Town's small dock, "Mawile! Maw! Mawile, mawile!" "Is that the S.S. Tidal?" Marvin asks, rubbing his bitten leg. A loud horn on the cruise ship indicates to the people of Dewford Town that the ship is about to leave. "Well, whatever ship it is, I'd better get on it right away! It's not every day a boat shows up in Dewford Town, let alone a luxury cruise liner! I'm not sure if I can make it on time, though... my leg kind of hurts..." "Mawile!" Not wanting to further hurt Marvin's right leg, his Mawile companion Bites Marvin's left leg with her gigantic maw and drags him at high speed, east on the sands of the northern beach, south past the Scarf Shop, then east all the way to the dock, where a ticket booth has been set up. There, she spits his leg out. When she sees Marvin clutch his leg in pain, the Mawile hopes that she never has to take him anywhere in a hurry again. She sweatdrops, saying, "Ile ilemaw..." "Would you like to buy a ticket, sir?" A woman standing behind the booth asks, "You only have one minute before the S.S. Tidal leaves to..." "One minute?! I don't care where it's going, as long as it drops me off somewhere that's not Dewford Town!" Marvin reaches into his tuxedo with his free hand, grabs some money he earned from Calvin when he defeated him in battle, and slams it on the ticket booth. The ticket lady shrugs and places a ticket on the booth, taking the amount of money the ticket costs and leaving the rest for Marvin. Marvin grabs the ticket and the money on the booth, then both he and his Mawile walk up a plank onto the S.S. Tidal. Right after Marvin walks onto the ship, a crew member raises the plank. Within minutes, the S.S. Tidal sets sail for Olivine City, Marvin completely unaware of the fact that he's headed back to Johto. -Marvin
