From: "Rob" <robfrompw@yahoo.com> Subject: [PW!] [SST] Marvin's Dream Girl Date: Tuesday, February 10, 2004 4:32 PM Marvin walks onto the Main Deck of the S.S. Tidal, still wearing the sapphire blue tuxedo he bought at Gorebyss Fashions and the leaf green top hat he obtained at Huntail Hats. He's glad that he's wearing a hat for the singles night event since it covers up the fact that his brown hair is thinning. "So many beautiful women..." Marvin observes, admiring all the nicely dressed women of various ages who just came up to the Main Deck from the Gala Dinner wearing amazing outfits. "Where do I start?" Marvin wanders through the crowd, looking for a beautiful girl who's not talking to a handsome, young, and/or tall man. The middle-aged man finds his task difficult, since handsome, young, and tall men seem to be what pretty girls are into these days. Marvin does a double take when he sees a brown-haired beautiful woman who looks about eighteen to twenty years old slow-dancing with a tall brown-haired boy who looks thirteen to fifteen years old. Marvin sighs. He's never slow-danced with anyone. When he was a teenager, he spent his high school years buried in his math books, admiring girls from a distance since he was too intimidated by them to approach them. He certainly wasn't dancing with any beautiful girls on a luxury cruise liner. During his college years, Marvin befriended a few girls, but none of them wanted to be romantically involved with him. When he became an accountant, he worked long hours by himself, so he didn't meet any women during that time. Outside of work, he didn't have many options. Pewter City didn't have a good night life - the city was about as boring as rocks. The only cultural center in the industrialized city was a museum full of fossils and that wasn't exactly the best place to meet girls. It seemed to Marvin that every man and teenage boy leaving the drab place known as Pewter City would pretty much have to be obsessed with finding a girlfriend. When Marvin left his job and his mother's house at the age of 35 to become a magician, he considered his strong desire to find a life partner justified. He spent the next eight years of his life traveling throughout Kanto, the Orange Islands, and Johto, looking for a special someone who would love to travel or settle down with him. He didn't even find a single date. The female volunteers he had for his magic acts would simply leave after the show were over and none of the women in the crowds ever found him charming or interesting enough to stick around and chat with him. In fact, more often than not, they were disturbed by him. Shortly after he turned 43 years old, Marvin finally decided to settle down, despite the fact that he didn't find a woman to settle down with. He figured after having unsuccessfully searched for the woman of his dreams on two continents and an archipelago that he might as well stop traveling around in search of her. He spent three years settled down in Goldenrod City, performing magic shows, hoping that someone would show interest in him. The only woman who did show some interest just happened to be a conjoined twin who shared a body with a woman who hated him and Marvin considered such a relationship too weird, even for him. Now, on the way back to the continent of Hoenn, Marvin hopes that he'll be able to finally find a girlfriend on the Main Deck of the S.S. Tidal before he turns 47 years old tomorrow. He glances past the slow dancers to see that a tall red-haired young woman wearing a green dress and black sandals is sitting all alone at a table, her friends having gone off to mingle, dance, or entertain themselves at the party however they wished. Marvin recognizes her as Cass, the woman who helped him during his magic show on the S.S. Tidal. The fact that he's spoken with her before gives him the courage to walk over to her and sit down at her table. Cass smiles at Marvin when he sits down next to her, looking at him with light blue eyes that shimmer in the moonlight, "Hi, Marvin! I'm so glad to see you here!" "You are?" Marvin asks, surprised that Cass even remembers his name. "I sure am!" Cass nods at him, then gestures towards the brown-haired girl, "Seeing my sister dance with her boyfriend is reminding me of how alone I am." Marvin blinks when Cass informs him of her solitude. "You... don't have a boyfriend?" "Sadly no. I've been after cute boys for years, but I've noticed cute boys tend to be shallow, immature, and stupid." Cass runs her fingers through the silvery hair at the sides of Marvin's head, "I've realized that what I need in my life is an intelligent, mature, funny man who can show me a good time." Marvin starts to sweat and adjusts his tuxedo's collar with one finger, "R-really? But you're so pretty... you can have anyone you want..." "Yes, but I want you." Cass taps Marvin's chest with a wink. She goes on to explain, "Ever since I saw your manly chest at the magic show, I haven't been able to get you off my mind. And that tuxedo you're wearing now makes you look so elegant! A girl would have to be crazy to pass up a gem like you." "This has never happened to me before..." Marvin gulps, not sure of how to proceed, "I don't know what to say..." "Why say anything?" Cass asks with a sly smirk, "Words are over-rated... Kiss me, Marvin! Kiss me like you've never kissed before!" Marvin closes his eyes and leans forward to kiss Cass' lips, but before he makes contact, Cass shouts, "Mawile!" "What?" Marvin stops short and opens his eyes, to see that a steel maw is now protruding from Cass' face where her mouth used to be. "Gahhhh!" He stands up and backs away from Cass, almost tripping over his seat, "Don't tell me you're a Ditto..." The steel maw coming out of Cass' face opens and closes as she sings to the tune of the birthday song, "Mawile ilemaw maw ile! Mawile ilemaw maw ile..." *** End of Dream Sequence *** Marvin opens his eyes once more, this time in real life, to see that his female Mawile has hopped onto his bed and is waking him up like he told her to before going to sleep. He had returned to his cabin early last night, after having struck out with quite a few women during the S.S. Tidal's Main Deck Celebration. "Mawile ilemaw ile Ilemaw~!" The Mawile holds the note for a moment, demonstrating her ability to sing vibrato, then she continues, "Maw-ile ilemaw, ile maw~!" "Thanks, Mawile," Marvin tells his Pokemon, bothered that his dream ended before he got to enjoy a kiss but not about to take it out on Mawile, who just did what he told her to. Marvin pats his Mawile on her head, recalls her into her black Luxury Ball, and heads for the cabin's bathroom. About an hour later, Marvin, dressed in his blue tuxedo and green top hat, shows his key card to an S.S. Tidal guard on his way out of the ship, which docked at Littleroot Town shortly after the middle-aged man fell asleep. "Thanks for sailing on the S.S. Tidal," the guard tells Marvin after scanning his key card, "If you're headed for Slateport, be back on board by 5:30 PM." Marvin tips his hat to the guard, "I'll keep that in mind." He then heads down a plank that leads to Littleroot Pier. Able to see Professor Birch's Lab on the northern horizon, he starts his journey towards the building, hoping that his Ditto are there since he wants to celebrate his 47th birthday with both Xerox and Famifax. -Marvin
