From: "William Rendfeld" <warendfeld@aol.com> Subject: [PW!] Moonlight Reflections Date: Friday, March 12, 2004 7:21 PM Moonlight Reflections On a small stretch of ground between Slateport City and Mauville City, just past the famous Trick House and underneath the Cycling Road, Jason Cassidy soundly slept. It was one of the few things left that he genuinely enjoyed, and one of the few pleasures that he'd have left considering his recent lack of breathing room. As Jason tried to become more comfortable, a Poké Ball popped open on his belt. On the ground emerged a small, black-and-gold Pokémon which vaguely resembled a canine. With a saddened glance back at his trainer, Umbreon silently walked over to a tree stump and lay down upon it. He looked up to the moon with his ruby red eyes and said, "<Please come back to me.>" "Something the matter?" an unfamiliar voice asked. His ears perked up in surprise, Umbreon turned to find a Duskull hovering nearby. "<Who are you?>" "Call me Mei," Sai Meilan, the long-dead warrior-turned-Duskull, answered the small Umbreon. "Now, what's wrong?" Umbreon took a tentative glance back at Jason and said, "<He is. And maybe me, too.>" "He's wrong?" Meilan asked. "<He's acting wrong,>" Umbreon explained. "<Jason, I mean. He's been this way for years now.>" "He hasn't always been like this, then," Meilan reasoned. "<No,>" Umbreon replied. "<Not since we tried battling that...that big Pokémon years ago. He's been hunting it and every other Legendary since.>" With a sigh, Umbreon noted, "<And pushing us to our limits as well. I'm just glad that only a couple of us have become monsters.>" "Like the Tyranitar?" Meilan asked. "<And Sharpedo, and Mightyena and Houndoom,>" Umbreon replied. "<Cacturne's just crazy, and the rest aren't battlers to begin with. And I'm not fond of the idea myself anymore.>" "You don't like battling then?" Meilan asked. "<It isn't worth it if you can't enjoy the victory,>" Umbreon replied. "<I don't care about winning battles anymore. I just want the Jason I grew up with back.>" Meilan blinked her one eye, then hovered down next to the depressed Umbreon and said, "Perhaps there is a way. Jason and I are currently on a quest for something. I need one wish for my needs; I can use the second one to restore him." "<You can?>" Umbreon asked, his gaze turned towards her eagerly. "Yes," Meilan replied. "And if that doesn't happen, perhaps time will soften him. We still have hope." Umbreon sighed, then curled up and said, "<I've about run out of hope, Mei.> With a slight smile, he noted, "<Still, a boost now and then doesn't hurt.>" Meilan looked to the little Umbreon before her, then to Jason and said, "Dream of hope, young one. It may yet give you what you ask for..." TBC? [NS: I know, very short. Still, I felt like I needed to establish a few things.
