"Ah, yes. You have a Pokémon for me?" "Right here, sir. Uh, wait." "Problem?" "Who are you?" "My name's Eric. I'm in charge of you now." "What happened to the other guy?" "We raped and murdered him and sent a videotape of the event to his family." "What!" "Either that, or it's none of your business." "Right." Scribble scribble. "What do you have for me?" "An Electrike." Scribble scribble. "How is it being delivered?" "Trading in the Cable Club." "Right. I'll be there soon." Click. PokéWars!: Lauren and Diego "Problem Two: Resolved" Steffan Alun The woman serving in the Cable Club returned to her counter. "Alright," she said, greeting Diego, one half of infamously dire Pokémon smugglers Lauren and Diego. "The machine's ready. You have to save the game before going in. Do you want to do this?" "Save the what?" asked Diego. "Oh, sorry, slip of the tounge." The woman handed him a piece of paper. "You have to save this receipt as proof of purchase. Collect three and get an official Kable Klub!! T-shirt." "Oooh!" Diego took the receipt, then entered the room. It was quite spacious inside, considering that he was going to be sitting down through all of this. There were several monitors on a table in the middle of the room, each one connected to a trading machine. Diego took a seat by the nearest machine, his legs not quite reaching the floor. Shortly afterwards, the machine was connected to a machine in Cerulean City, Kanto. He place the Electrike's PokéBall in the machine, and confirmed his selection. The Ball was sucked into a pipe and deep into the machinery. A diagram on the screen showed it journeying hundreds of miles to Kanto. Another Ball was travelling in the opposite direction. The Ball fell from the pipe, and Diego took it. He left the room and headed straight down the escalator and towards the exit. Best not stick around, lest the Centre's staff discover what he'd been up to. Lauren, his partner, quickly followed. "You didn't send it?" she asked angrily, seeing the PokéBall in his hand. "Of course I did," said Diego. "This is just what we got in return. You can't just send a PokéBall to Kanto. You always get one in return." "Aha!" said Lauren. "Then it's probably a Pokémon from home! We may be able to sell it here. Take advantage of the market for rare Pokémon." "We'd better check what it is first," said Diego. "I mean, it's probably just a random weak Pokémon." "A random weak Pokémon," repeated Lauren. "I see." Diego released the Pokémon from the Ball. It materialised on the floor, and instantly grabbed onto Diego's leg in what seemed to be a hug. It looked up at Diego and, seeing his face, immediately let go. It had a sad expression on its face. "What's that it's got?" asked Lauren. Diego leaned down and removed a note from the Pokémon's hand. "A letter from Eric," he said. "He's our new boss. Not sure why. He wouldn't say. Anyway. It says it'll only respond to the name De...Den...sit..ee. Density. It was nicknamed prior to being caught." He looked down at the Pokémon. It was a very small specimen, and appeared to be very nervous. Still, Diego had always wanted a Geodude. TBC?
