Moments later, Nori spat out a chunk of Bob's vine as the severed plant material fell away from her hands. Thus freed, she went right back to work...or tried to. With his back to the ground and unable to quickly escape in any other direction, Mimic's training suggested it was time to go into the ground - and digging might have taken too long. When Nori resumed her attacks, the gastly was a bit surprised to find them penetrating the top centimeters of soil, but diving a bit lower provided him room to think. While Mimic was skeptical of Nori's claim to have turned herself into a dark type, the nature of her attacks was undeniable, as was the high quality mental shield he detected when trying to probe into her mind. The obvious solution was that she was telling the truth, or close enough to it. Which meant mind rape - Mimic winced as his thoughts reflected those words in Bob's accusatory tone, but time to deal with that later - was not an option. At least, not the usual way. Tuning his senses to ghostly affinities, he spied Nori's soul, squatting as her body squatted above, searching for her target. He had only one shot to get inside her mind: all or nothing. He charged... It took a few seconds to realize what happened. He ran into unexpected solidness, but attributed that to an aspect of Nori's dark nature. He kept pushing, trying to find a weak spot, until something gave, and he pushed right on through. Now he floated a meter in the air in front of Nori, above her prone, cooling corpse. His eyes almost bugged out when he completed the chain. "Mimic sorry! No mean this happen! Umm, Nori can go back in Nori body any time, it all better, as if never happened. Please? Umm, hurry, before something happen?" Mimic quivered in place, having broken his own taboo. Every other time he had killed, he had an excuse. Giving a better death, when death was guaranteed. Self-defense. Being controlled. Nothing came to mind this time, and his carefully constructed reassurances began to unravel... TBC? > [NS: As if it wasn't complicated enough already. Next?] [NS: Okay, top that. ;P But why do I see the following coming? ^_^; Alex: "What makes you think he is a monster?" Nori: "He turned me into a ghost!" Alex: "A ghost?" Nori: "I got better." Needless to say, Mimic's in far more trouble - from himself - than Nori's in at the moment. And yes, I did get Beth's explicit permission.]
