from google, hence the really munched format X.x Sorry!)
Vixxen, enthralled with the amount of knowledge this girl possessed, was
delighted at every word she said. She followed Jo, ultimately confirming
every statement as though she had already known it.
"/I/ think we ought to hide in the stream. Old ladies can smell young
detectives a mile away you know," Jo proclaimed.
"Oh yes, yes, of course!" Vix nodded. "And the stream will clear our scent!"
"Quite. But we have to be careful -- the smell of old people can
overwhelm even the TOUGHEST detective!"
"Hey I don't think--"
"Shut up Karl," they chimed together.
"Don't worry, Finder-outer, we know what we're doing!" piped Jo.
"And you can just sit tight and hang around," finished Vix.
Karl sighed irritably and sat back, hugging his knees. "I don't want to
sit in the stream."
"You won't have to," said Jo. "You're a finder-outer, not a detective!
You will be in charge of look-out, in case any more of the Granny Gang
come along. We don't need any more Blue-hairs than we have."
"O..kay..." He turned his back to them, happy for the bit of respite he
would have as they leaped into the stream. Unfortunately it didn't reach
higher than mid-calf as they stood, so they simply crouched and watched
the woman shuffle down the dirt-path.
As they were occupied, Karl spotted someone else going the other way. He
immediately sympathized with the guy because he seemed to be a shy and
quiet person, and also seemed to be dogged by something displeasurable.
The man was jogging along, looking around, and then took out something
from his pocket.
Was that...?
"Hey guys..."
"Finder-outer, we are working on VERY IMPORTANT business," snapped Jo.
"So important, the world will EXPLODE if you interrupt!"
"Yeah but--"
"THE WORLD WILL EXPLODE, KARL, EXPLODE!"
"Well I found the t--"
"You don't care about the world, do y--"
"I FOUND THE TELEVISION!" Karl shouted, fed up with Jo cutting him off.
She blinked and he, having released his excess outspoken-ness, retreated
further into himself than before. He lowered his eyes, blushed brightly
at his outburst, pointed in the direction of the man without looking,
and was suddenly dragged to his feet by both hyperactive companions.
"Well Why didn't you say so?" asked Vixxen, in an exaggerated manner.
Karl remained silent. /Why me...?/
