[I'm not sure if you'll even see this, as I've been having serious
computer trouble. So, I'm just going to try to finish this as quick as
I can, and I'll work something out to resolve the little glitches in
it for the future. I guess this should be an NC tagged story, as I
made it rather hard for others to get involved. That's the glitch I'm
working on fixing, and I should have it resolved by the next

Night had fallen on Valencia Island. Russ and his Porygon had very
little to occupy their time, and they weren't ready to turn in yet, so
they wandered into the forest.
"I remember Laurie mentioning that there was good fruit in this
forest," Russ said. "Porygon, want to go look for some?"
"Gon!" the Pokémon said. It was still quite energetic despite not
having rested the whole day.
"I'll take that as a yes!" Russ chuckled, and they continued their
It wasn't long before they happened upon a bush lush with Berries.
Russ and Porygon took close looks at the fruit.
"It looks like good fruit," Russ said. "But we can't be too sure if
it's poisonous or not. We'll take some and go back to town, and find
out about it."
Porygon nodded lightly in agreement. They picked off a few Berries,
put them in Russ's backpack, and were about to leave....until they
heard branches snapping nearby.
"Someone's coming." Russ nervously observed.
It wasn't long before the form of a person appeared in the shadows. It
was a boy, who appeared to be about Russ's age. He went right up to
the Berry bush before he noticed the pair.
"Hello!" he exclaimed. "I'm Louie. What's your name?" (Ed. note: at
this time, he's an NPC)
"I guess you and your Pokémon have been here picking Berries too, eh?
Say..what kind of Pokémon is it?"
"It's a Porygon. I've had him for a long time."
"Porygon...hmm, I don't think I've ever seen one of those before."
Louie pulled out a small red device from his pocket. "Pokédex, give me
information on Porygon."
The computer beeped, then replied, "Porygon. The virtual Pokémon.
Porygon are unusual Pokémon that are composed of computer data."
"Wow...that thing is pretty sharp," Russ marveled. "What is it?"
"It's a Pokédex. It gives me information on Pokémon upon my request. I
got it from Professor Ivy when I started as a trainer."
"I take it you have a Pokémon too, then."
"Yup. Only one, though. Want to battle?"
Russ looked down at Porygon. "What do you think?"
Porygon looked back and said "Porygon!" It was ready.
"I guess so. Let's do it!" Russ had watched the Pokémon League battles
on television before, so he had some idea of what to do.
"OK! Go, Venonat!" Louie threw a Poké Ball and the bug Pokémon
appeared. "I'll let you go first, Russ."
"Thank you. Porygon, use Tackle!"
"Porrrrrrry!" Porygon dashed at Venonat, hitting it. The Venonat made
a slight backwards recoil.
"Not bad," Louie said. "Venonat, Tackle it right back!"
"Venonat!" yelled the Pokémon. In a similar move to Porygon's, it
dashed at its opponent and knocked it back a bit.
"Porygon, hit it with another Tackle!"
This attack was more fierce than the last, and Venonat took quite a
"Very good, Russ. Very good. Venonat, use Psybeam!"
"Veno....." the Venonat was still. Suddenly its eyes began to glow and
soon enough it fired a beam of light at Porygon, hitting it hard.
"Porygon!" it cried.
"Porygon, use another Tackle!" But it was in vain, Russ had lost.
Porygon collapsed into the grass.
"Sorry, Russ, looks like I won this one. Now I have to go. Venonat,
come back!" The Venonat recalled back into the Poké Ball, and Louie
left. Russ ran to the side of his injured Porygon.
"Porygon, are you OK?"
"Por...Pory..." it said, weakly.
"We better get you some help. But....I have no idea where we are!"
Russ picked up the hurt Pokémon in his arms, randomly chose a
direction, and ran that way.
He hadn't been running all that long when a large building came into
view. "Don't worry, pal, you'll be better soon," he said to Porygon.
Finally, he reached the door of the huge building. Sheepishly, he rung
the bell, hoping he wouldn't wake anybody. To his surprise, a short
girl with large glasses answered rather quickly.
"Can I help you?" she asked.
"My...my Pokémon got hurt," he stammered. "Can you help me?"
"Sure, I think we can help you. Come on in!"
Russ entered the building. Inside, he noticed it was rather
disorganized, but comfortable overall. The girl who answered the door
ran up a staircase looking for someone.
"Professor, professor!" Russ heard the girl yell. "We've got a visitor
with a hurt Pokémon! He needs help!"
"I'm coming. It isn't Louie, is it?"
"No...I've never seen this one around before."
The girl came back down the stairs, and behind her was a tall woman
with distinctive purple hair.
"I'm Professor Ivy," she said. "I see your Porygon is hurt. Don't
worry, I can help it. Sit down and relax."
