Dan, at the local library, has dozed off over his laptop computer, leaving a
stack of newspapers nearby and his next Xpoze front-page update onscreen. He
is in the local Celadon Library with the Xpoze's Gena. She was convinced
into coming because "he needed help" to track the activities of Metal Earth
in recent news, which is a gang smaller than Team Rocket, Aqua or Magma, but
one which continues to grow despite several recent arrests.
"Poor guy's exhausted." Gena remarks, sitting next to him to browse through
his books. Her short hair has been dyed pink recently, but her black roots
are beginning to show.
"Yes, but he's been so helpful. He's been following this story nonstop, but
has still taken time to do his regular work. He's done an excellent job of
putting my investigation on paper."
Goro Serizawa walks in, having hoped to speak with Dan. He flashes his
billfold.
"Goro Serizawa. Detective."
"I've heard. I'm Gena." Gena responds. Goro places his billfold on Dan's
stack of books to fix his trenchcoat's breast pocket.
"He said he wanted to see me. Says his story has been developing in a most
curious manner." Goro says.
"All of a sudden, the thugs are consistently turning up behind bars. You
call that 'curious'?"
"Curious."
"wh...Hey Gena, hey Goro." Dan awakens and stretches.
"Good morning!" Goro points at his digital watch which reads 1:51 PM.
Dan closes his on-screen document and asks, "Goro, have you considered
there's an individual responsible for all these easy arrests?"
"Oh, I'm certain that it's some trainer."
"A pokémon trainer?" Gena and Dan ask in unison.
"Well, I found two of the guys, paralyzed and scorched before the cops came.
They were unconscious, but I'm certain whoever took them out used the
assistance of a pokémon. Two others claim that the guy who calls himself..."
Dan interrupts Goro to pull out a week-old Xpoze, citing his own article.
"'Dynamask'? ...that's an old one. He wears a large, ornate belt to keep his
pokéballs organized, right? Bug face that's more terrifying than a thousand
ghouls? Urban legends, that guy. That's all he is. It's probably some angry
trainer in a mask."
"That's the name, they've say. This guy probably has it really bad against
these... Metal Earth punks." Goro clenches his teeth as he completes his
sentence.
"And that's all you can tell as of yet?" Dan asks.
"What can I say, the guy leaves a clean trail. I thought I was good at
sleuthing, but this guy is flawless... when it comes to leaving no trail."
"I see. What's the latest news?"
"I'm thinking that today will be my breakthrough, Dan. A big group of theirs
is meeting here in town later today, and I may know where it will be. It
could be our chance."
"Shall I..."
"Not for this one, I don't want to put you in danger. I should be going,
though. I want to make sure that I've made all my preparations."
"Okay, Goro, best of luck. I don't know how you do it, but you consistently
keep up the good work."
"My methods are effective, to say the least. Pleasure meeting you, Gena."
Goro leaves, and Gena takes a seat next to Dan. Outside the library and
around a corner, Goro walks into an alley and opens his trench coat. A belt
with a thick, rounded center appears around his waist. Two regular pokéballs
are to each side of the belt's center, which is a red "bubble" with three
lines swirling into the center.
"Good, he doesn't know yet. But when he does, he has to know that my method
is the only one that works with criminals like them."
Goro crosses his two arms over his chest, and thrusts both of them down and
back as he is covered in a white light.
"HENSHIN!"
"Hey, hey!" Dan and Gena come running around the corner, Dan holding Goro's
billfold. He sees an empty alley and nothing else.
"He sure left in a hurry." Gena comments, looking around for Goro, "I guess
you'll just have to hold on to it for him."
"Guess... so." As Gena walks back, Dan stands around the corner from the
library, looking for Goro, dumbfounded.
