"RAAAAIIIIIII!" cried Raichu as Marowak pounded it into submission. It ran
away into the darkness of the cave.
"Good job, Marowak." Marowak was significantly weakened. He had been
battling like this for hours. They were wandering aimlessly through the cave.
It seemed like they were going in circles. Sirius took out a Max Potion and
sprayed it on him. "It's going to be a while, considering the fact I have no
idea where the exit is. Just hang in there."
From the direction of Raichu's escape came a familiar face.
"Hey, let's battle." It was the Bug Catcher. Sirius battled him almost four
times already, winning each. The last time they fought was before the S.S
Anne. "Aren't you the dragon trainer?"
"Yeah, that's me. How long have you been here?"
"Just got here."
"WHAT??? I'VE BEEN HERE FOR FOUR HOURS!!!" The Bug Catcher shook his head.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Didn't you memorize the map at the HQ? They don't let you
have a copy for some reason, they just make you go out into the wilderness to
fend for yourself. It's kind of cruel when you think about it. Anyway, up for
a battle?"
"Sure. One Pokémon each, though. I'll need all the Pokémon I have to get
through here."
"Butterfree, I choose you!" shouted the Bug Catcher.
"Go, Charizard!" yelled Sirius in response.
"Let's see... Butterfree, Stun Spore now!"
"Charizard, flamethrower!"
"Reeee!"
Charizard attacked first, firing the flames at Butterfree. Butterfree easily
dodged the blast and released the spores. She released them too soon,
apparently, and they caught on fire. Butterfree was caught in the blaze and
almost fainted. She flapped her wings hard, blowing the flaming embers to
Charizard. While Charizard became stunned and slightly burned, Butterfree flew
higher into the air.
"Charizard, try another Flamethrower!"
"Butterfree, use Psybeam!"
Charizard shook off the spores and took off after the fleeing Butterfree. He
opened his mouth and shot out the fire, waving his head left and right to
spread it out. Butterfree turned around and released the beam of psychic
energy. It enclosed the fire and turned it back to Charizard. He used his own
powerful wings to blow the psychic controlled fire back to Butterfree, who
flapped her large wings in return. The powerful gusts created huge, strong
whirlwinds around the cave. Sirius and the Bug Catcher were both struggling to
stay on the ground. Slowly, the fire dissipated in the air.
"Chaaaar..."
Charizard drifted to the ground, resting his tired wings while Butterfree
stayed aloft.
"Butterfree, finish it off with tackle!"
"FIRE SPIN!"
Butterfree gracefully glided through the air and turned to the exhausted
Charizard. Gathering up her last amounts of strengh, she streaked through the
air. In a last ditch effort, Charizard fired a small, weak fire spin.
Butterfree, her sight hindered by her uncontrollable speed, desperately tried
to slow down. The fire spin escaped from Charizard's jaws, becoming an
independent tornado. Butterfree was sucked in and was scorched by the heat.
She escaped, barely conscious.
The fiery twister grew larger, vacuuming Butterfree down again, but suddenly
the whole cave flashed a brilliant red. Time seemed to stop. The red changed
into blue. The area was shaking. Blue trails of smoke seeped out of the
walls. Butterfree became a blur of light while Charizard turned a dull brown.
Swarming with pure, psychic, power, a huge explosion enclosed the area. When
it all ended, Charizard was fainted on the ground. Butterfree was hovering in
the air, writhing. Sirius and the Bug Catcher slowly returned to their feet.
"Whoa... I guess... I won," said the Bug Catcher, shaken. He recovered.
"That must have been Psychic. Has to be a good omen."
"Yeah... I guess... you did." Sirius returned Charizard to his Pokéball.
Marowak was dizzily stumbling around. Sirius took a deep breath and continued
on his journey inside the cave.
