Her Caterpie had been injured badly in a trainer fight a few hours before. Nurse Joy came out of a room, holding a Metapod. She showed it proudly to Angel. "Yeah, um, that's great, but how's Whisper?" Nurse Joy replied, "This IS Whisper!" Angel's jaw dropped. "He-he evolved?" Nurse Joy noddled happily and gave Whisper to his trainer. Angel had been standing at the Pewter City Gym entrance for ten minutes, steeling her nerves for her first Badge battle. Taking a last, deep breath, she stepped inside. The first thing she saw a pillar with the list of winning trainers on it. Angel gaped at it. "What? Ebony's already been here? Rrrr." She growled, clenching her fist. Now she had to win. Angel continued walking until she came to a large room with a mat spread onto it. Brock was there, waiting for a match. "I challenge you for a B-Boulder Badge!" Angel stuttered in her nervousness. Brock stood up. "I accept your challenge. Geodude, go!" The small rock Pokemon appeared. "I choose you, Myst!" Angel's Vaporeon appeared. Both Brock and Geodude winced. Water Pokemon are Rocks worst enemy. Angel seized this chance to take the first move. "Myst, start off with Water Gun!" The Vaporeon opened her mouth wide and out burst a flood of water that splashed all over Geodude. "Duude..." It said weakly, falling to the ground. "Geodude, return! Go, Onix!" Angel was about to celebrate her victory when she saw the rock serpent. "Uh oh. Myst, Water Gun again!" Myst hit Onix with the Water Gun, weakening it slightly. Onix roared. TO make a long story short, Angel and Myst beat Brock and his Pokemon. She held up her new Boulder Badge to the sunlight, making it glint. "On to Cerulean!" As she traveled along, Angel saw a figure in thte distance.
