Angel was still running the next day. The call was so strong, she just
*had* to make it! Suddenly, she noticed a car by the side of the road.
Silently, she crept over to it. She’s never stolen anything before, not
even taken things without asking. The keys were in the car. Angel bit
her lip, eyes a cloudy gray. Was this weird call even meant for her?
What if it turned out to be a big mistake? The call tugged at her mind,
stronger this time. Angel made a hard decision.
The owner of the car, a teenage boy, was walking with his Raticate when
he saw a familiar blue car go whizzing by.
“Hey! My car!” He yelled, waving the driver to stop. Too late. Angel
was in the distance before he got within ten yards of the speeding
vehicle.
By the next day, after stopping only to get some food in Pewter, Angel
had reached Celadon City, where huge crowds were gathered.
“I wonder what’s going on.” She murmured as she steered the car
straight into a tree. The air bag exploded, nearly knocking Angel out of
the car. She unclipped her seat belt and slipped out of the almost
totaled car.
“Wow! This is great! It’s a Pokemon Auction!” Angel said in awe,
glancing around at the booths and tables. “I’ve got some money. Might as
well try my luck at an auction.” Angel walked quickly over to one that
was just starting and sat down near the back. The auctioneer called out,
“And next we have a fine example of an Abra! Let’s start the bidding at
$200!” Angel lost interest; she didn’t need an Abra. A young girl bought
it for $375.
The next Pokemon up was a scared looking Vaporeon. Angel’s eyes turned
into little hearts. She remembered her childhood dream of becoming a
great Eevee and Eevee Evolutions trainer. The auctioneer’s loud voice
brought her to her senses. “Let’s start the bidding at $400!” Angel held
up her hand. “$450!” A man in a green hat shouted, “$500!” The bidding
for the Vaporeon went as high as $780, where it stopped. “Going
once…going twice…SOLD to the girl in the back!” Beaming, Angel stepped
up to the podium and clipped her new Pokeball onto her belt. “Would you
like to give Vaporeon a nickname?” A woman standing by the podium asked.
Angel nodded, mind racing. “How about…Myst.” The woman smiled and typed
it into the computer.
As Angel left Celadon that night, she had received two more Pokemon: a
Flareon named Napalm and a Jolteon named Storm.
Angel found the car, still smoking from the hood. She grimaced. “Oh
great.” Caterpie chirped in her ear as she slowly went back into the
mangled vehicle. Praying to every saint and angel (herself, maybe?) she
could think of, Angel turned the key. The engine coughed and spluttered,
but finally gained a steady hum. Angel smiled. On to Saffron!
After several hours of driving speeds of over 80 miles, Angel finally
saw the glinting lights of Saffron. The call was getting stronger, now
that she was getting closer to the city. Angel parked the car in the
woods and opened the dented car door. As if in a daze, she walked into
the city streets. Angel turned her head around while still walking
forward, and crashed into someone. Angel recovered first, and helped the
other girl up. “Seesh, I’m really sorry.” Noting the worried look on the
girl’s face, Angel decided to be friendly. “Hi, I’m Angel. Can I help
you? Ow!” Angel clutched her foot and glared at the Persian that had
just bitten her. The other girl patted the growling Pokemon on the head.
“It’s okay, Neko. She didn’t mean to bump into me. I’m Alyssa, by the
way.”
‘Kay, Alyssa, your turn~!
