Clash at Celadon.
Plotline by Cat-Gonk and Alex C.
Written by Cat-Gonk.
Note: Jin Isai hasn't been around for aeons, so I figure I can put his
character to use for a few moments. Jin, if you don't like this then
flame me via e-mail.
------------
"We'd better move."
Tomoe and Hotaru stepped out into the Celadon forecourt. The Pokemon
Auction was in full swing, with a huge crowd gathered around the main
auctioning stand. All of the proceeds were going to Team Rocket, of
course.
"I'll come with you," gently spoke Hotaru. Alex could be going to his
death. Inexplicably, their was a Rocket data file on the young Tick
Sequiro. Alex was much larger than Tick, but Tick's strength was
incredible for someone his size (I frequently spar him at Karate, go
figure.).
Tomoe didn't want her to accompany him into battle, but consented.
Though he was proud, Tomoe was deeply afraid of losing Hotaru. She was
his best friend, and they had braved many ordeals together.
"He should be around somewhere."
------------
Felix strolled through the markets at the foot of the auction,
checking out the prices. For most of his life, Pokemon supplies could
be easily procured off his father. However, they were short on Sky
Attack TMs, the reason for Cygnet not knowing it already.
Tick would be after a Solarbeam TM for Victreebel. A stall nearby
seemed to be what he was looking for, and after searching through the
wealth of card-like machines, found what he was looking for. The TMs
were a thick piece of plastic, much like a computer disk. On one side,
a label depicted a Pokemon using the TM's ability, and the other side
held instructions for installation and usage in battle.
"So Felix, how goes the training?"
It was the Pokemart owner from Hellion. Hellion townspeople always
seemed to travel a lot.
"Fine. Where'd you find these?" Felix held up the two TMs. "I've been
searching for these two." He waved them for effect.
"I bought them in Saffron!" laughed the shop owner. "I didn't have
enough cash for the ferry, so I ended up having to sell them here!
They're $40 each."
Felix dug through his pockets, and gave the man the money. Thankfully,
he had a substantial amount in his wallet. After waving goodbye, he
set off to find his companions and tell them the good news.
------------
Tick and Samuraichu stepped out from the Celadon City Gym,
Rainbowbadges in hand. Both held Pokemon strong to plant-types, and so
the simulated battles were no contest. In the distance, the Celadon
forum was swarming with people.
"Tick!"
Felix strided towards them, TMs in hand. "I got you this!"
Catching the card, Tick examined it.
"Chu?"
"Solarbeam, TM22. A powerful, though slow to charge grass attack that
uses solar energy to vapourize the opponent. Thanks!" It was the first
time Tick had smiled after the battle with Alex. He stored the card
inside his backpack.
"Are you going to get any Pokemon?" asked Felix. "I've already got
five, so why bother?"
"Nah, I'm here to find Tomoe. He should be around here somewhere."
Once again, Tick was full of purpose.
"You're not thinking of a rematch, are you?"
"Why not? He can't beat me now that we've got the Wigglyweapon and
Swift Strike."
"I still think it's not a good idea."
Regardless, the group walked off into the forecourt.
------------
"He's got to be here somewhere," said Tomoe with frustration.
"Maybe he's in the back alleys?" suggested Hotaru.
------------
"He's not around here," said an enraged Tick.
"Chu chu chu raichu?" suggested Samuraichu.
------------
Tomoe walked through the empty streets of Celadon, Hotaru close
behind. They came to an empty public forum, and rested.
Tick walked through the back alleys of Celadon, Felix and Samuraichu
close behind. Seeing a small plaza ahead of him, they decided to stop
for a rest.
"You!"
"Tick!"
In a flash of lightning, Tick drew his Wigglytuff Launcher and Tomoe
his staff. From opposite ends of the plaza, they prepared for battle.
"Alex!" cried Hotaru.
"Chu?" Samuraichu, halberd in hand waddled across the "arena" to
Hotaru, and greeted her.
"Chu chu raichu!"
"I'm Ray..Hotaru." They shook hands.
"Chu, raichu rai chu?"
Meanwhile, Tick and Tomoe faced off against each other.
"I ask for a duel. No Pokemon, no Rockets, just us." angrily requested
Tick. Felix noticed a huge change in tick's behaviour, as he'd never
seen him this enraged before.
Tomoe was offset by Samuraichu's proximity to Hotaru, and by the size
of the blade the large Raichu carried. "I'll take you on!"
------------
Leaping backwards, Tick loosed off a Wigglytuff Launcher blast. He had
not yet practiced with the weapon, but the explosive-packed Wigglytuff
was right on target.
"WIGGLY!!!!!"
Tomoe swung his staff across to defend himself, but the explosion
forced him to the ground. A single piece of shrapnel had cut into his
right shoulder, and he staff clattered to the ground his arm out of
action. Tick threw the Wigglyweapon to Felix, and readied his brace of
throwing knives.
Quickly, Tomoe sprung to his feet. Though his psionics could not heal
the blast damage to his shoulder, his arm was re-animated. The
bruising from the Wigglytuff explosion was quickly negated, and he
charged towards Tick.
With a fierce battlecry, Tomoe swung his staff at Tick. The agile Tick
easily dodged the blow, and retaliated with his knives. Swift Strike
techinqiues ensured that they were right on target, but Tomoe blocked
them effortlessly. Tick's blades returned to his hand, and combat
ensued.
"Chu, raichu?"
"Yep, we're both Rockets. Why do you ask?"
"Chu..." Samuraichu sweatdropped.
The melee ensued. They were an even match, Tick the stronger agressor
but Tomoe the better defender. Felix had reloaded the Wigglytuff
Launcher, and kept it ready just incase anyone tried something. Though
Felix had nothing against Team Rocket, Tick painted a less-than
favourable image of Tomoe's kind of Rocket.
------------
"Get him! Defend Alex!"
From a back alleyway, Felix caught sight of a group of Rockets
charging directly for Tick. Wigglytuff Launcher at the ready, he
braced himself to fire.
"Stop them! Protect Tick!"
Across the other end of the small plaza charged another group of
Rockets led by a familiar face, Jin Isai. Dressed in full Rocket
regalia, his group met the other head-on. Tick and Tomoe still fought
uninterrupted, to consumed in killing each other than to notice the
battle around them.
"I haven't forgotten what you did at Pallet," said Jin to Felix. He
hefted a Rocket up by the throat and threw him across the plaza. "You
and your friends saved my life."
"How did you know to defend Tick?" Felix threw a blade into an
attacker charging at Jin. "You never met him at Pallet, he was in Mt
Moon."
"Don't ask me why, but were are Rocket files on both of you before
this whole Alex/Tomoe thing started. I checked your background after
leaving Pallet. There's a few things you should..."
Jin was dragged into the melee, and fought bravely.
------------
"You can't win." Tick
"You haven't a chance," proudly replied Tomoe.
Tick's knives were getting dangerously close, and even though Tomoe
had charged himself up with psionics Tick was till the stronger. Tomoe
needed most of his mental energy just to keep his wounded arm
functioning, and thus did not have the strength to summon an energy
blast.
However, Tick knew that a single square hit from Tomoe's staff would
probably take him out. The size difference was great, and though Tick
had the better constitution Tomoe could easily defeat him with a
strong blow. Tick needed to wear him down, as in a few moments Tomoe's
loss of blood would kick in, and the impetuous Tick would overwhelm
him.
"Are you a ninja too?" asked an intriged Hotaru.
"Chu, chu raichu..." Samuraichu blushed.
Tick and Tomoe were too focused on each other to notice the carnage
around them. Neither party of Rocket seemed to be gaining the upper
hand. Jin was busy trying to protect Felix, who was steadily picking
off targets with the Wigglytuff Launcher. Tomoe's group was larger,
but Jin's party the stronger.
"Almost there..." Tick kept Tomoe at bay with a barrage of knives, all
of which were blocked. Tomoe's movements seemed to be slowing down, he
could feel the exhaustion taking over and he was helpless to use his
psychic powers. The second he let his guard down, Tick would have a
blade at his throat.
Tomoe lashed out, his staff impacting into a weary Tick's body. Tick
was thrown across the plaza, but landed on his feet despite the heavy
bruising. He was in pain, yet summoned up all his internal strength to
release a deluge of blades.
Tomoe fell to his knees, his arm crippled and shivs penetrating his
torso. He could do nothing but watch, as Tick got up off the ground
and dusted himself off. The battle around them ceased.
------------
"Alex!" cried Hotaru.
"Chu?"
Hotaru rushed over to Tomoe's prone form. Tick was of a wiry build,
and despite the damage was strong enough to pick up his Wigglytuff
Launcher and bring it to bear on Tomoe's face.
"It ends here, Alex, Tomoe, whoever." He released the safety lock, and
loaded a fresh cartridge.
The others could do nothing but watch. Tick took a few steps forwards,
and raised the weapon to Tomoe's temple. Tomoe was afraid, and fearing
for his life. The blast from the weapon would kill him instantly, and
his wounds ensured that he was completely helpless.
"Stop!"
It was Jin Isai.
"Stop this now, and everyone can walk away. Your honour has been
avenged!"
"It must be done." Tick was grim, and full of purpose.
"Let him live!" cried Hotaru.
"Tick, back off," calmly spoke Felix. "You've done enough."
Slowly, the shivering Tick brought the weapon away from Tomoe's face.
A threat no longer present, the relieved Tomoe let himself sink into
unconsciousness,.
Jin looked around. "We all go back into the auction. No-one speaks of
this again. As far as we know, this never happened."
Slowly, a mumur of approval rose up.
"Felix, I thank you. We will meet again."
The Rockets departed from the plaza, the unconscious Tomoe carried by
two members. leaving Felix, Tick and Samuraichu alone.
------------
"You did good, Tick."
Tick was back to his old self, now that his vendetta had been carried
out. The group and their Pokemon relaxed outside the rooftop cafeteria
of the massive Celadon City Pokemart, in comfortable deckchairs and
Pina Colada close at hand. Far below them, the Pokemon Auction
continued.
"I feel heaps better," Tick drew on the large cocktail. "Will we see
Jin again?"
"I doubt it." Felix looked out into the clear Celadon sky. Shrike had
probably flown back to Hellion, and they'd have to remain in Celadon
for a few more days.
"Rai! Raichu!" (Look! Over there!)
"Do you guys come here too?"
A dark shape appeared from the right balcony. It was Kirsty, riding
her Dragonite.
"Hey," greeted the slightly-drunk Felix and Tick.
Dragonite settled on the rooftop, Kirsty taking a deckchair next to
Felix. Her Pokemon quickly bought themselves drinks and settled down
in the rooftop dining area with all the others.
"We'll have to wait for Shrike," said Felix to Kirsty, "which means
we'll be here until Friday." He chewed the wedge of pinapple from the
cocktail glass.
"Cool! Let's stay up here for a while."
The group relaxed, happy and fulfilled.
