Subject: [PW!] [PKMN-Auction] Does Porygon have a soul? Date: 8 Apr 1999 17:12:48 GMT From: mtsowbug@aol.com (MTSowbug) Organization: AOL http://www.aol.com Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon Recently, Phoo did a lot of stuff, and now he is in the pokemon mansion. If you want to know what stuff he did, read "Alcohol, now!" Now on to the story... Phoo entered Celadon mansion through the rusty door on the fourth floor. He passed through the alcohol storage room, and entered the main part of the building. There were tons of people walking around inside, and even more Porygons. "Hmm... hmm! This was unexpected. There are an awful lot of humans here. Well, I'll just have to be careful. Maybe I can find Icy here..." he thought. Phoo wandered through the building, searching for anything interesting. Eventually, he came to a back room on the third floor. Phoo crawled through a crack in the door. Inside was a dusty, old room cramed full of Porygons. It looked like the Porygons had been there a long time. Phoo was very surprised at this ethical outrage, and thought, "What? How can these pokemon be treated so badly? This is horrid..." Phoo proceeded to pet one of the Porygons, but got no reaction out of it. Phoo decided to try a direct psychic communication with one of the Porygons, instead. Phoo's claw lit up with energy, and touched another Porygon. He waited for a few seconds, but could feel no mind. "What is wrong here? Do Porygon not have any mind, any soul? Just mindless machinations created by man?" Phoo thought. Just then, he saw a lone Porygon cowering in the corner. This surprised Phoo, as he had just come to the conclusion that Porygons couldn't think for themselves. He decided to approach the Porygon. The Porygon calmed down, slightly. Phoo decided to try the psychic link again. His claw lit up, and touched the Porygon. Phoo could just barely sense a mind. Phoo said to it, via its mind, "Hello. I am Phoo. I see you are different from the other Porygons..." As Phoo was communicating with it, the Porygon started to wobble and overload. It did have a mind, but the psychic link was a little too much for it. The Porygon started to fade in and out, and jolted around the room, passing through Phoo in the process. "Hmm! This is unusual! It appears Porygons can fade in and out of physical reality... well, I did hear that they are computer code..." Phoo comtemplated. Just then, the Porygon stopped. It turned around, and looked at Phoo. Suddenly, it rushed right at him. Just as Phoo prepared himself to be injured, the Porygon faded out and ran through him. It then faded back into matter. Phoo was thinking about the Porygon. If it actually had a mind... maybe it could have a free will, a spirit. Maybe, just maybe... As if sensing what Phoo was thinking, the Porygon halted again, and turned back at Phoo, with its head cocked. It seemed to be comtemplating something. All of a sudden, the Porygon rushed towards Phoo again, but then stopped right before him. It then eyed Phoo, and grabbed his pokebelt with his mouth. The Porygon then examined the pokebelt, looking for something. It then turned to Phoo, and directed his thoughts to him. "Free of thought, free of will. Help me, Phoo..." It then touched an empty pokeball, and got sucked in, with a flash of bright light. Phoo crawled back over to his pokebelt, and put it back on. "Well, looks like I have an obligation to fulfill. Help give this Porygon a soul... goodness. I'm having a weird day, today..." Phoo thought, sighing. With that, Phoo left the back room filled with Porygons to look for Icy. I'd love an interaction. However, the idea is that Phoo is supposed to be kept in secret, and only a few creatures know about him. So I guess that limits interaction possibilities... oh well.
