Happily, he walked towards Fox, awaiting him outside. "It's your turn, pal." >> Fox smiled, and ran in. "Yoo-hoo...Surge...!" "Yeah, baby! You da next fight?" "That's me. Let's start this thing now! I got places to go..." "Calm down, ya punk kid. You're lucky Raichu's still ta weak to fight!" The voice echoed over the loudspeaker once again. "Lt. Surge selects Voltorb. The challenger chooses...Sandshrew!" The two stood, concentrating. Then, the bell rang. "BEGIN!" "Go, SANDSHREW!" "Voltorb, take care a' dis baby!" "Sandshrew...Fury Swipes!" "Voltorb, get ready to shock dis loser!" Voltorb began to shoot electric blots everywhere, charring the gym floor. Sandshrew casually hopped through the bolts, unaffected, and let lose. He engraved sharp scratches on the sides of the Voltorb, while electricty filled the air. "Oh, geez, I fergot! Voltorb, use yer Tackle attack!" "Sandshrew, dodge this one!" Sandshrew got ready to hop aside. But the Voltorb's speed was too great. Within a Flash, the Voltorb appeared in front of him, and knocked him accross the floor. "Now tah finish him off...Voltorb, EXPLOSION!" "Sandshrew, you know what to do." Fox hinted towards to ground. "Shreeew!" The Voltorb hovered above the ground, and began to emit smoke. "Volllltorb!" The robotic voice screeched, and exploded. Surge and Fox held their hands in front of their eyes as the force of the blast was even too much for them. Fox could hear a last "SHREEW!" before the blast. After the smoke cleared, neither Pokémon could be found. Just then, a small body erupted from the ground. "Good Dig attack, Sandshrew, finish it off!" The Pokémon swifty bounded towards the charred, smoking, fizzing Voltorb sitting there, almost fainting. With a quick body assault, the Voltorb was KO'ed. "Yeah, Sandshrew! We did it!" "Here ya go, kid. Good choice a' Pokémon." Surge flipped him a Thunderbadge, and Fox caught it proudly. "Kid, all I ask is that ya don't do dat crazy victory poze like all dose udder kids--" But it was too late. Fox was already in the V-for-Victory pose, happily displaying his Thunderbadge. He met Gohan outside. "Alright, Gohan. What was this you mentioned about that "Pokémon Research Island"? Gohan grinned, and led him towards the Vermillion City airport. TBC!
