Subject: [PW!] If you can't defend yourself, use offense... Date: Thu, 8 Apr 1999 17:30:01 -0400 From: "Stratus" <do.not.annoy.me@yahoo.com> Newsgroups: alt.games.nintendo.pokemon As Stratus approached Saffron, he stuck his hand by his weapon holster, ready to shoot at any second. "I must proceed with caution... as I once heard a princess say... 'the most powerful attack is the most unexpected...'" Stratus said. He walked in the city, proceeding carefully not to be attacked by anyone else, unlike the last time where he ended up having to battle Tenchi. Just then, he read a sign on a wall. "Azure Heights..." Stratus read. The rest of the text was blocked out by another poster that said something about an AGNPSPCP party. "Perhaps that's where I can find my past," he said. "In order to get there, I'll need to defeat the Elite Four. And to get to the Elite Four, I'll need to get all of the badges..." He walked beck to the gym, where he saw Guido telling Iconoclasm to attack. "Excuse me, Guido," Stratus said. "I'd like to arrange a badge match with Sabrina..." "Walk right in. I don't challenge anyone anymore," Guido interrupted. As Stratus walked into the gym, he noticed a person walking out with a Kabutops and a Scyther. "Such an easy battle," he said. "This may seem easy, if he beat him so quick," Stratus said. He walked into the chamber where they were supposed to battle, the gym leader and the challenger. "Sabrina, I am here for a Marsh Badge," Stratus said. "Very well then. After a fierce battle with that other person, I shall defeat you easily," Sabrina cackled. "This will be a three-on-three battle. I shall lead with Kadabra!" She tossed out a Kadabra's Pokéball. "Although I despise fighting, I have no choice. Defend my honor, G!" Stratus said, and tossed out G's Pokéball... out came a Growlithe. "Invoke the Flamethrower," Stratus said. The Growlithe breathed fire all over the Kadabra. "Now finish it with Take Down." The Growlithe speeded right through the Kadabra. The Kadabra was too dazed to use its Recover. "Return!" Sabrina said, and zapped the Kadabra back. "Now... face my Exeggutor!" "G! Destroy the infernal tree with Ember!" Stratus shouted. The Growlithe shot a wisp of flame at the Exeggutor and it caught on fire. Suddenly, Stratus remembered his past... ----------------------------------- "Stratus, no!" Stratus' companion yelled. "Wah ha ha! I have the supreme advantage over you!" Stratus yelled. "Mystery, use Swift and kill that thing!" A Staryu started throwing its SpeedStars at the defenseless Exeggcute. "No, stop! You're killing it!" his opponent shouted. "That's what I plan to do! Kill it!" Stratus shouted. Suddenly, Stratus started feeling guilty. He was ashamed of trying to kill a defenseless Pokémon. "Mystery, STOP!" he shouted. But it was too late, all six of the Exeggcute were dead. Not fainted, DEAD. Kaput. Defunct. Desceased. And so began one of many mistakes... ------------------------------------ "G! Come back NOW!" Stratus yelled. He had never yelled in his life before. With such a commanding voice, G had to obey. He ran back to his master's side. "Now, M, GO!" Stratus shouted, and threw M's Pokéball. He was planning to make up for his past mistakes. "M, put out the flames with Hydro Pump!" Stratus commanded. The Starmie started pumping water-- just enough to put out the flames. "Now, M, sit there and wait to be defeated," Stratus said. The Starmie obeyed his every command. "What are you doing!?" Sabrina said. "This is an official League match! Why are you losing on purpose?" "I'm making up for my past mistakes... the ones that I can remember. I won a match about three years ago, by using too much force. I want to learn from my mistakes... by not defeating those who I have too much of an advantage over. Now, let's go, M, G." Stratus called M back into its ball and let G walk by his side. "To recover my memory, I must battle or complete a task," Stratus said. "I shall start by trying to regain my emotions. I have already recovered one... and that is feeling sorry. Hopefully, I can regain others by capturing more Pokémon... winning... or... even killing people... which I do not feel like doing." The man who forgot his own past and his companion walked down the street, hoping to remember the past... That is a little bit of advice for you: Don't choose to fight when you have too much of an advantage.
