From: Laeophie <laeophie@aol.comikaze> Subject: [PW!][NC] Looong first fic... filled with cliches, I know. Date: Thursday, April 15, 1999 8:06 PM Chapter One: Beginning of a Legend Sirius woke up one morning to start another boring day. It had been five years since Sirius began his journey. Now he was living in Indigo Plateau. He was a Pokémon Master, but never got the chance to fight Ash. The few trainers that challenged him gave up pretty easily, and he rarely saw the other Pokémon League Masters. He was brushing his teeth when the phone started ringing. He walked to his phone. "Hello?" answered Sirius. "Sirius? We have a mission to complete, and we'll need your help." It was Professor Oak and his aides. Sirius sighed. "What is it this time? Team Rocket steal something or what?" The Professor was a bit annoyed at Sirius's lack of enthusiasm. "Actually, this is much more important," he said. "Come to Pallet Town as soon as possible and I'll explain. Bye." Sirius hung up the phone and got dressed. This was starting to get interesting, he thought. He left his house and headed for the airport. The next day in Pallet Town. Sirius arrived in Pallet Town the day before and stayed in a hotel. The town had flourished during the reign of Ash Ketchum, and now was a huge city. It dwarfed Rocket patrolled Celadon City in population, and its economy was one of the highest in the region. Pallet Town was the new home for beginning Pokémon Trainers, Pokémon Breeders, and Pokémon Researchers. The next morning, he walked to Professor Oak's Lab and knocked on the door. "Professor? It's me, Sirius." Professor Oak opened the door and let Sirius in. He sat down at his computer. "As you already know, Mew sightings have gone drastically down the last couple of years." "Uh huh." "Do you know when the last trainer caught a glimpse of a Mew?" "Of course. Snap, right? He saw one in Pokémon Island three years ago. Didn't get any proof though." "That's right." "Professor, I can see where this is going. With all due respect, I'm not going to waste my time for a pathetic Mew hunt. I've got to go." "No, wait! We have proof of Mew, now!" Sirius sighed and stayed in his seat. "We have concrete evidence just outside of Mt. Moon. We are almost certain Mew is in there. We have found dead Clefairies, Zubats, Geodudes, and Parases lined up outside of the cave. Only Mew is capable of this power. We'll need your help." "Why?" "We have sent dozens of capable, talented trainers in there to seek out the Mew. Unfortunately, we never heard from them again. Outside of the cave, their charred skeletons were found." Professor Oak shuddered. "We are planning another expedition into the cave. The other Pokémon Masters declined, but we happen to believe you can help. Four other trainers will be sent with you. Do you want to help?" Sirius gave another sigh. He certainly didn't want to risk his life, but didn't like the alternative either. Staying home, going to high-class parties, busting Team Rocket, aging, dying, being forgotten. Just to be remembered would satisfy Sirius, the fact that his life would mean something. Fighting Team Rocket was a lost cause. Evil was an invinceable force that couldn't be beaten. It could be stopped, but it was always there. Capturing Mew would revive the fantasy of old Pokémon training, before Team Rocket. Forgetting the fear, he nodded at Professor Oak. "I'll do it." Professor Oak smiled. "When can I start?" "Tomorrow, if possible." "Great." Sirius left the lab. TBC... My first crappy attempt at a long fic. Anyway, anyone want to have a character in it?
