A Spearow tried to eat him, but Charmander fought it off. Weedle finally brought the group to...Pewter City!] Natasha picked up Weedle and hugged him. "Thank you!!" Still carrying the little insect, she ran to the Pokécenter, with Charmander and Cubone following her. Her laughter had faded into a wide grin as she entered the center. Nurse Joy smiled from behind the desk. Natasha plopped Weedle down on the counter, helping her other two Pokémon up after him. "Could you just check them over? I want to challenge the Pewter gym tomorrow, and they have to be in their best shape...right, guys?" Charmander bounced up and down. Cubone waved his club menacingly, while Weedle just sat, looking a little hesitant. The nurse smiled. "Sure...this will only be a few minutes." She took the three Pokémon in back. A man approached Natasha from behind. "Hello, ma'am, I couldn't help but overhear that you plan to challenge the Pewter gym. Frankly, your team doesn't stand a chance..." Natasha stared at the man for a moment. "Mmm-hmm..." He continued. "Your Charmander wouldn't have a chance against Brock's rock-type Pokémon. Cubone is only a ground-type...since both his Pokémon are ground *and* rock type, you wouldn't do very well... "Weedle's bug-type won't help or hurt, but his poison half isn't any good against rock. And he'd simply be crushed. Now think, what's good against rock and ground types?" Natasha paused. "Water, right?" The man nodded enthusiastically. "Exactly! And where would you get a water type? Without a rod, or a water Pokémon to surf on, you won't be able to get one! But do I have a deal for you...for only $500, I'll *give* you the king of the seas, Magikarp!" The girl looked unimpressed. "Yeah, sure. Can I see him?" The man shook his head. "No, I don't dare bring him out here...someone may steal him!" She shrugged. "Whatever. Look, I'm sure your Magikarp is great and everything, but I really don't want one. Three is enough for me!" He nodded. "Suit yourself." --Natasha V.
