(For your convenience, a summary of this episode appears at the bottom)
Since we last left him, Runt and Rolly have enjoyed an early dinner. After
that, Runt picked up 2 Horn Drill TMs (1 for Tiny & 1 for Airiana when she
evolves), A Blizzard TM (for Tiny), and a Thunder TM (for Airiana). We now
rejoin our heros (Runt and Rolly) as they make their way to the Porygon
Technology Demo...
As he heads to the mansion for the demo, Runt passes by the fountain in the
main stage area. Something catches his eye... A boy acting rather oddly...
First, the boy jumps into the air. Then he grabs at the air above him. After
landing on the ground, he acts like he's throwing pokéballs on the ground.
"Poor kid," Runt comments to Rolly, "He's delusional...So sad when that
happens."
"Shwew..." Rolly replies.
The unfortunate kid then walks over to the fountain and, after a few moments,
begins crying out, 'Magikarp! Anyone want to buy or trade for a Magikarp?' Most
onlookers just shake their heads and walk on. Runt isn't an exception.
As he approaches the mansion, he's see a group of trainers entering the
building.
"Looks like we're on time Rolly."
At the door he meets up with the coordinator. "You're just in time, the
demonstration is about to begin. Just go in that room over there," she says
pointing to a room at the end of the hall. He enters the room and scans it for
a seat. Quite a variety of trainers had come to see this demonstration. Runt
finds an empty seat next to a girl and her eevee.
"May I have your attention please?" askes one of the programmers at the front
of the room. "The Porygon demonstration will now begin."
Six other programmers bring out porygons, and place them on a table.
"As you know, porygons can transform into many different things, many of
which are unknown to humankind. But, after months of research and tests, we
have found some new transformations and new uses for the pokémon known as
porygon," the programmer continues. "The goal of this demo is to show you how
useful a porygon can be, and how they will always be worth having. At the end
of the demo, you may choose to enter a raffle for one of these fine porygon at
the front of the room. Now, enough chit-chat, let's start the demo!"
The trainers applaud loudly.
"The programmers in our research team have found over fifty new
transformations,
only a fraction of which we can show you to tonight. We will do the demo like
this: each of our six programmers will stand behind a porygon. They will call
out an action, and the Porygon will transform."
"Truck! Pokeball! Invisible! Chair! Donut!" calls each of the other
programmers to
the Porygon before them. Everyone watches in awe as each of the 5 porygon
transform. All are amazed at how a porygon can transform into such things.
"Ee, Ee Vee Vee!" barks the girl's eevee. Its trainer tells it to be quiet.
The demonstration continues on for some time, after awhile its finally over.
"Alright - If you would like to enter the raffle, please enter your name into
this jar," he says motioning to the jar beside him, "and pay 1 dollar to the
programmer behind the table.
Runt, as well as most of the other trainers in the room clamor to get their
ticket. After a few minutes, everyone gets back to their seats to wait for the
drawing. Runt glances down at his ticket, 'ticket seven-oh-seven' he reads
silently.
"Wish me luck, Darwin!" says the girl next to him as she crosses her fingers.
"Drum roll, please!" the head programmer says, "The winners of the six
Porygon will now be announced..."
"First winner: Number seven twenty-eight! Congratulations!"
"Next: Number seven thirty --"
"Oh my god - This could be it!" interrupts the girl. Runt sighs with
annoyance.
"Number seven thirty-five!" repeats the programmer .
"Shoot!" sighs the girl in despair.
"Next winner: Number seven thirty-six!"
"I WON!!!!" exclaims the girl. Runt rubs his ear to help it recover from the
pain of the sudden shout.
"Congratulations, little girl, you've w --" begin the programmer as the girl
leaps from her seat towards the table.
"YEEEAAAHHHH!!!!" she exclaims, holding the ticket aloft. She then snatches a
porygon from the table and rushes out of the mansion, holding her new pokémon
high in the air.
Once she leaves the room, the crowd breaks into applause. Smiling, the head
programmer motions the audience to stop. "Okay...The last three winners are
numbers three eleven, eight seventy-six, and five nineteen," he says.
"Que sera, sera - eh Rolly?" remarks Runt quietly.
"Thus concludes the demonstration. Winners, please come to the table -
Everyone else, Have a good night."
Except for the five other porygon winners, the crowd files out the doorway
and into the street.
Summary: Runt attends the porygon demo and sits next to a somewhat obnoxious
trainer.
