The next day, Sirius arrived at Mt. Moon.
"Sirius! You're finally here," said Professor Oak. "Anyway, everyone's here
now." He motioned to the other trainers, some of whom Sirius recognized.
"Simon? Simon Locke?" The head of Anti-Team Rocket looked the same as he did
four years ago, though it was hard to tell through the paper bag. The year
before, almost every member of Anti-Team Rocket was killed, save for a few of
the high-ranking officers. Simon, Titan, Sirius, Derrick, Laura, and Raven all
survived along with a few others. The organization was destroyed, however, and
the unthreatened Team Rocket organization thrived.
"Hello, Sirius," said Simon. He smiled under the paper bag. "I didn't know
you survived until just a few days ago. That's when I offered to help.
Anyway, it's good to see you." The two former ATRs shook hands. Sirius looked
to the left to see two of his old friends Derrick and Neo. He hadn't seen them
since he entered Victory Road.
"Hi, Derrick. Neo." He shook hands with both of them. For a minute they
didn't seem to recognize him.
"Uh... Is that you, Sirius?" asked Neo.
"Yeah. How's it going?"
"Well, I'm the leader of my own Gym now. It's been a while, hasn't it?" he
said monotonously. He turned back around to talk to some of the other
trainers. Sirius was a little surprised at Neo's cold attitude. Derrick
seemed the same as before, though.
"Hi, Sirius. I'm second in charge in the Celadon City Gym," he said proudly.
Sirius grinned.
"That's great," said Sirius. He didn't recognize the others. Professor Oak
interrupted.
"You seem to know those three, but the others you've probably never known.
Sirius, meet Wind."
"Hi."
Wind, a woman probably well into her twenties, politely shook Sirius's hand
and turned away.
"This is David. He's a promising Eevee trainer, one of the last few," said
Professor Oak. "Finally, that man is Chris. He is Bill's assistant. He'll be
your main guide since he knows the mountain so well. He'll also have your
supplies. Since it's too dangerous for seven people to travel together, you
should split up into two groups when you have the chance. Are you ready?"
"Yeah."
"Be careful," warned Professor Oak. Sirius and the others entered the cave.
Meanwhile, in Team Rocket HQ...
Dreadite entered Giovanni's office. He had offered to be part of the mission
to capture Mew, but Giovanni turned him down. All three Rockets sent into the
cave perished. Giovanni turned to Dreadite and asked him to track the group
just yesterday. Dreadite was eager to face his old enemies, Simon and Sirius.
"Sir."
"Chris's group seems to be ready for the expedition. They have already
entered the mountain. Let them search for Mew. When the time's right, you and
the others will make your move," said Giovanni. "Be ready. Head to Mt. Moon
within the next few hours. I'll tell you when they're close. Go."
Dreadite left his office. Giovanni smiled to himself.
"We're finally close to it. It's just a matter of time," he thought.
