Orion lifted his Pokéball and returned Sandslash before it could hit the ground. Sirius did the same. Orion took out a bag filled with potions. "There are forty Full Restores, three Full Heals, ten Max Elixirs, and five Revives in this bag." "Thanks... but will I really need that many?" asked Sirius. "Your levels aren't nearly as high as Dad's. You'll need all the help you can get." Sirius shrugged and entered the building past the statues. "Lorelei, I challenge you!" The arena was surrounded by water and was freezing cold. The walls were covered in engravings of Articuno. In the center of the arena stood Sirius's first League opponent, Lorelei. She calmly stepped forward, a grin on her face. "Very well. Let me remind you this match will be televised. Millions of people will be watching the son of Lance's defeat." "Oh, yeah..." Sirius remembered watching challengers on TV, laughing when they eventually lost to Lorelei. Those who defeated her were crushed by Bruno. Only one trainer that Sirius remembered made it to Agatha, but by then she only had a Hitmonlee left. "We'll use all of our Pokémon. For my first Pokémon, I choose Dewgong." Lorelei dropped the Pokéball into the water. "DEW DEW GONG!" growled Dewgong as it was released from the Pokéball. It playfully splashed around in the water. "Go, Marowak!" shouted Sirius. "Bonemerang, NOW!" "Maro maro maro maro wak!" Marowak threw the spinning bone. It was a little too far to the left, but curved in time. Dewgong sunk into the water and popped its head out. It opened its mouth and shot out a colorful beam at the bone, freezing it on impact. "Maro!" squealed Marowak. He ran to his bone and tried picking it up. He shivered and dropped it. "Marowak, watch out!" Dewgong shot out another Aurora Beam, freezing Marowak. Marowak was enclosed in a block of ice. "Dewgong, Take Down attack!" Dewgong slipped out of the water. Sirius was fumbling around the bag for a Full Heal when Dewgong's horn slammed into the block of ice. It was flung into the air and crashed into the wall. The ice shattered, finally freeing the fainted Marowak. "Marowak, return!" Sirius clenched his teeth. "Go, Charizard!" "CHAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!" it roared. Dewgong was unimpressed. "Dew, dew dew, dewgong!" It clumsily crawled back into the pool at the side. Charizard frowned in disappointment. "Don't worry about it, Charizard. Use Flamethrower!" Charizard fired the attack towards the water. The fire was put out when it came into contact with the water. "Charizard, slash it!" Dewgong appeared again and used Aurora Beam repeatedly. Charizard flew into the air, dodging the beams and closing in on Dewgong. Dewgong jumped out of the water and whacked Charizard in the face. Charizard was slammed into the wall and slid down into the pool on the other side. "AAAAUUGHHHHH! Charizard, return!" Charizard was saved just in time. Sirius still had a hope, but was extremely angry. "Go, Seadra!" "Dewgong, use Headbutt and Take Down." Lorelei was smiling a little. "Seaaaa! Seadra seee!" squeaked Seadra. She hopped towards the water. Dewgong quickly slid into her way and shoved her back with a light headbutt. The startled Seadra retaliated by splurting out ink, blinding Dewgong. Dewgong angrily headbutted her again, causing her to faint. Dewgong found its way back into the water to wash the ink off. "Seadra, return!" Sirius hopelessly frowned. "Go, Gyarados!" "GRAAAAAR!" Gyarados searched the arena for its opponent, finding it in the water. It snaked its way through the arena towards Dewgong. "NO! Gyarados, wait!" Gyarados turned around and gave Sirius a questioning look. Sirius slumped to the floor as Gyarados became frozen solid, hit in the back by an Aurora Beam. "Gyarados, return." Sirius was visibly upset now. "Aerodactyl, go." Sirius was more depressed now than he ever was. His first League match was going horribly wrong. "AEEEROOOOOOOO!" screamed Aerodactyl. It swooped down to Dewgong and grabbed it in its talons. Before Dewgong could blink, Aerodactyl let go and let it slam into the wall. Lorelei and Sirius both gasped. "Dew... dew... dewgong..." it moaned in pain. "Aerodactyl, finish it off with Hyper Beam!" shouted Sirius. "Dewgong! Drag it into the water!" Dewgong hopped into the pool. Aerodactyl sped through the air, stopping short of the pool by a few feet. It opened its jaws and began forming a sphere of pure energy. Dewgong escaped from the pool in time to see it be hit by Hyper Beam. The water bubbled and hissed, turning a yellowish color. Aerodactyl landed on the floor, desperately trying to recover in time. The pool was quickly cooling down. Dewgong, despite its injury, headbutted Aerodactyl in the back. Aerodactyl screeched and fell towards the bubbling pool. "Aerodactyl, return! Reis, go!" "Dra gondragonair?" Reis examined the tired Dewgong for a while. "Reis, use Thunder!" "Dewgong, return!" Lorelei was slightly annoyed. "Go, Cloyster!" Cloyster appeared and fired an Aurora Beam. The Dragonair was frozen solid. "I win." "Yeah, OK. But I'll be back in a few hours." Sirius returned Reis to her Pokéball and headed back to heal his Pokémon. TBC... I HATE not interacting.
