I toned down a little on the large vocab..Can you tell? ;)
This one's a long one again..Sorry, I can't help but ramble on..
------------------------------
Pebbles and gravel flew out from under the cars tires as Cera directed it into
the rocky pavement of Christy's driveway. Christy herself was watching from the
living room window, barely breathing. The day seemed bright to her, despite the
fact that blackened storm couds were covering the suns gentle rays.
Cera arrived at the already opened door with a smile almost equivalent to
Christy's in size. They exchanged chipper greetings, before Christy ushered
Cera into the plush living room, which was luxuriously well furnished despite
the houses relatively small size.
"So?" Christy asked simply, with expectant eyes, which were drawn to Cera's tan
handbag.
Cera's own eyes followed her friends gaze. With a chuckle, Cera lifted the
handbag so it dangled tantalizingly in front of her friends face. "So..? What's
in the bag, huh?" Cera laughed again, before releasing it to plop into
Christy's lap.
Very pleased, Christy flashed Cera a delicate white smile before pulling back
the flaps that created the opening of the bag. Two Pokeballs seemed to glow
from it's depth, despite the obscuring shadows.
Her smile brightened into a sheerly joyous grin as she lifted them out and into
the waning sunlight. "Thank you!" was all Christy could manage, expressing her
gratitude it in a delighted whisper.
"Let's open them, shall we?" Cera suggested through the smile that hadn't left
her face. "They are both actually pretty rare. Did I mention that to you?" she
added, relishing the look on Christy's face.
Bounding to her feet, Christy took the first Pokeball and ... "Christy, wait!"
Cera cried, but by that time the ball had already made contact with the ground.
"Go Poke - Huh?" was all Christy said before the interruption.
With a mechanical buzz, the object erupted into a fierce red glow that
collected and took a massive shape. Both Cera and Christy winced as a dainty
glass table tipped and shattered in the process of the creatures formation.
Cera gave a nervous chuckle as Christy desperately tried to pick up the larger
shards. As she did so, she felt a warm droplet of thick liquid land squarely on
the back of her neck. Something was taking in deep, ragged breaths behind
her...Turning cautiously, Christy found herself facing.."Rhyyyyyyhorn!" it
bellowed directly into Christy's distraught face. The exerting breath blew her
hair back, and it covered her face like a dank, thick blanket of heat and
moisture. Gagging, Christy fell back, barely missing the jagged pile of the
once picturesque glass table.
Cera smiled with uncertainty again, as she went to assist her friend. The
Rhyhorn gazed at the hapless teen, a kind of dumbfounded, apologetic expression
within it's tiny eyes. "Rhyy.." it moaned, dropping it's head as if it knew it
had done something displeasing.
"I'm so sorry!" Cera said, her voice high-strung and concerned "I should have
warned you earlier! I promise he won't hurt you..He's like a puppy..A giant
puppy!" she reassured.
Christy was beginning to wonder why such luck had befallen her with Pokemon.
She shook off the feeling, and undauntedly replied "Hey, no problem!" Her eyes
came to settle upon her new Pokemon. It was a rather homely creature, with
piercing eyes that were mostly covered by the gleaming, jagged scales that
formed the Rhyhorns formidable physique.
"Kinda ugly, ain't he?" Christy said with a side-smile.
"Yea..But listen to this!" Cera reached for Christy's Pokedex, and pointed it
at the Pokemon.
The object beeped, before continuing in it's deadpan voice: "Ryhorn. This
Pokemon's bones are 1,000 times harder than a humans. It can easily send
something as large as a trailer flying." Christy made an impressed sound in her
throat, before returning her eyes to the massive creature, which was creating a
sizable puddle of drool upon the hardwood floors. Needless to say, the feeling
of impression quickly faded when Christy looked upon the liquidy goo.
"Ugh.." Cera and Christy moaned in unison. Taking the Pokeball that was lying
amongst the shattered glass, Christy aimed it at Ryhorn, and beckoned it back.
"Ryhorn, return now!" The ray of translucent ligt engulfed the Pokemon, and
brought it back to the sphere.
"Is the next one going to be...," Christy paused, glancing sharply at the
broken table and the tiny lakelet of Ryhorn saliva, and then to the thin, wide
eyed face of Cera "...So much trouble?"
"You'll like the next one!" Cera flushed guiltily, reaching speedily for the
other Pokeball.
"Alright then.." Christy took the Pokeball to her palm, looking warily at her
friend.
"Don't worry about it!" A confident smile spread across Cera's face.
"Pokeball, go!" Christy released the ball to soar through the air, watching it
closely with uncertain blue eyes.
The ball struck the floor, once again releasing it's captive in a flash of
scarlet. A trig, long figure formed from the glow, and the fully developed
version of it squeaked "Dratini! Tini ti!" The snake-like body of the Pokemon
slithered and slipped across the floor, making it's way across the smooth
surface toward Christy.
Christy studied the adorable creature. It had innocent black eyes, glossy
bluish skin, and the cutest chirping voice. "Oh - it's so cute!" Christy
clasped her hands together delightedly. The dratini wound it's way up Christy's
leg, peeping it's name, staring at Christy's face with it a kind of determined
curiousity.
"I knew you'd like it!" Cera beamed, watching her friend fondly run a hand over
the surface of dratini's velvety head.
"This little guy has just made it all worthwhile!" Christy smiled at the
dratini, who cheeped to her in response.
------------------------------
After two hours or so of listening to the gabs of a lecturing mother, Christy
was packed and set for her adventure. Bidding Cera and her mother a rather
tearful farewell, she stepped out of the doorway of her comfortable abode. With
three Pokeballs and a backpack at her side, Christy felt ready to face whatever
challenge may arise. Except, of course, the threat of rain.
Misty droplets showered down lightly, creating a thin layer of moisture to halo
around Christy as she strode down the Celdadon sidewalks. Glancing back and
forth through protectively hooded eyelids at the sights and sounds of the
twilight city scene, she spotted a quaint looking hotel. The rain was only
falling harder, and Christy had already walked a ways.
Loping across the street, she made her way into the entrance way. The dim light
of the hotel guided her to the small wooden counter where an employee stood
alert.
"May I help you?" the man inquired.
"I'd like a room, please." Christy replied, absent mindedly. Her eyes were
drawn to the design of the lobby. The brown walls enclosed maroon chairs and
tables, and large ferns and other varying plants sat as decor. The hotel
altogether had a rather earthy smell. Christy liked it.
"Alright, thank you. Here's your key," the man handed Christy the key, and she
made her way to the stairs. Another item, however, caught her eye. A brightly
colored poster hung on a bulletin board near the stair well.
"Hmm..Pokemon Auction, huh?" she said to herself, studying the poster with
interest. "And it started today," Christy decided she wasn't going to pass up
an event like this.
TBC!
------------------------------
So Christy'll go to the Auction in the next story! Anyone care to meet her
there? Anyone at all? :)
