From: Nendil <lucyliu@flash.net> Subject: [PW!] Almost Time... Date: Thursday, May 20, 1999 10:55 PM Mithril-rama gazed out of the window. The tall buildings of Saffron City were darkened by night, but they still uncovered enough of the evening sky. The painfully clear sky, in fact. The weather was so perfect that every tiny star can be seen sparkling against the empty background of space. Rilli shook her head in disgust and sighed. Despite the clear weather here, the Pidgeot Express flights to Viridian are still delayed until the next day. She had even gone to make sure, half an hour before the service closed for the day, but the response was the same: no go. Rilli turned her eyes away from the window; the cloudless sky only seemed to mock her patience, which, although she has plenty of, is fast wearing thin. Smoothing out her nightgown, Rilli padded on weary feet into the bathroom, hissing silently at the cold tile floor. She sprinkled some water onto her hair, flattening it down and pulling a brush through. It was too early yet for her normal bedtime, but she couldn't think of anything to do, and she figured that the sooner she goes to sleep, the sooner tomorrow will come. All the same, her stomach was restless with frustrated energy, begging for activity and fresh air. Rilli sighed again and sprawled onto the bed, wishing more than ever that Robert was with her. Usually he was the one who came up with their various adventures, always having something to keep her entertained. Sure, much of that time she spent simply reveling in his presence, but that was a moot point. She burrowed under the covers and tried to get comfortable. As soon as she rolled into her familiar position, Rilli realized the night was not going to be a pleasant one. Her arms, indeed her whole body felt awkward without something, actually someone to wrap around. She tried lying on her back but that did no good. She tried hugging the blankets, but they were too thin to be of any use. It was too warm. She stuck an arm out. It was too cold. She slid back in. Still too hot. She got up and opened the window, then darted under the covers. Now a refreshing evening breeze cooled her face, but chilled her feet. She gave up trying to rest and decided to study the pattern on the pillowcase instead. Heck, sleep wasn't going to come easy tonight. She wasn't even tired. Rilli hurried out the door as she grabbed a piece of bread--no time to eat, she was late already. A few steps brought her to the local Pidgeot Express, through the gates and on the bird. It was taking an agonizingly long time to take off, however. Rilli occupied herself by nibbling on the toast and humming a tune. Eventually the take-off light turned on and the bird pokémon took wing, surprisingly smoothly. Wisps of clouds brushed by her face, and she gathered some of the vapors for moisturizing her mouth. The flight was taking an annoyingly long time, so Rilli closed her eyes for a while and when she opened them, she was on the ground. It wasn't the right place, the Pidgeot got off course and landed in Cerulean, but that's all right because Robert's climbing off the Pidgeot right behind her. The wind was blowing hard, but she hugged him and kissed him on the cheek, and they climbed some stairs into the streets. It was crowded there and Rilli lost track of him in the crowd while crossing the street, so she decided to find Queth. Queth's house was low and she couldn't remember the number, but she found it after a careful search because the homework paper in front of the house had her name on it. Then, she remembered that Robert was with someone else--she can't remember her features but she was beautiful. So Rilli decided to leave them be with much regret, and knocked on the door of Queth's house. An answering message replied that no one is home right now, and she remembered that Queth was dead. So she pressed the doorbell. ::blip blip blip:: "Uggh..." Mithril-rama opened her eyes groggily with a start, feeling unfinished. She glanced vaguely in the general direction of the window and saw that it was dark. Too early to get up. But just to make sure, she checked the alarm clock that had wakened her in hopes that it has malfunctioned. It hasn't. <Seven o'clock... it's not supposed to be dark at seven o'clock.> The window revealed a gray overcast sky. <It's spring... it's not supposed to be cloudy in the spring.> Rilli shuffled into the bathroom to wash up for the day, a growing anxiety in her waiting for the flight back to Viridian City.
