From: Laeophie <laeophie@aol.comeleon> Subject: [PW!] Enter the Dragonite Date: Wednesday, May 19, 1999 8:14 PM Terrence's patience had worn thin. He had been staying in Pallet Town for days, but found no half-decent trainers to steal from, much less half-decent Pokémon to steal. Pallet Town used to be filled with inexperienced trainers, the type his position in Team Rocket preys upon. Terrence let out a long sigh and finally gave up. Being the bad guy wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Terrence wasn't of any importance to Team Rocket, and he knew that. Just a lackey, only used for stealing Pokémon. The important Rockets were the ones taking control of buildings, searching for Mew, killing off important ATR leaders, the ones who were mutants, aliens, and freaks of some sort. He shuddered. It'd probably be better if he wasn't one of them. But he still could improve his position in some way. Terrence got up to leave and spotted the newly built Pallet Town Pokémon Center. It was tiny, but probably would still have some good Pokémon in there. Maybe his Hitmonchan could deal with the wimpy Pokémon the trainers had in the Pokémon Center, if he was lucky. Looking around for police officers, Terrence carefully stalked into the Pokémon Center. "Pummel, go!" As soon as he entered, he threw the Pokéball at Joy's desk, releasing Pummel. For an instant he considered saying the TR motto, but decided not to out of fear of embarrassment. "No one will get hurt if they leave now!" "Reis, dodge and counter-slam!" alerted Sirius. He and Lance were at the last match of their battle. A Dragonair vs. a Dragonite. If Sirius were to lose this one... The agile Dragonair dove to the left, causing Dragonite to fall flat on his face. Lance smiled. "You still need a lot of work, Sirius," noted Lance. Sirius pretended not to hear. Lance turned back to his Dragonite. "Barrier, now! You'll wear her out eventually, she's not strong enough." Dragonite was instantly shielded by a shining barrier. Reis crashed into it and fell back down. "Reis, Dragon Rage!" "DRAAA!" Reis executed the move similarly to Gyarados's Dragon Rage, except instead of water the tornado was white fire. It twisted and spun its way to Dragonite. "Dragonite, dodge!" shouted Lance. Only a few feet away from the cyclone, Dragonite was hurled back to the wall. He had no escape. Dragon Rage closed in and hit Dragonite with full force. He roared and took the pain. However, Dragonite was back on his feet within moments, ready to fight. "Reis, you gotta finish him quick!" warned Sirius. "Don't give him a chance to rest!" "Dra!" The Dragonair nodded quickly. "Hyper Beam," ordered Lance, gruffly. "That'll be enough." The whole arena suddenly darkened. Dragonite focused all the energy into a small point in front of his face. The point turned into a swirling ball of energy, quickly growing larger and larger. Dragonite suddenly flew back, above and behind Lance. Because of the darkness, Dragonite became a ghostly sillhouette in the light behind it. Reis was too frightened to move. "Reis, get back!" Reis lurched back in time to avoid the full force of the beam that Dragonite released right then. The immense power pushed Reis back next to Sirius. Sirius, nearly blinded by the light, shielded his eyes with his arms. Out of the corner of his right eye, he searched for Lance. His father was only a slight obstruction in the darkness compared to the Dragonite above him. Dragonite shifted his head from side to side, moving the beam closer and closer to Sirius and Reis. The ground which Hyper Beam touched was now completely incinerated. Sirius looked down to see Reis weakly moving forward. "No..." he mouthed, unable to speak. Reis slithered a few more inches while the beam shaved off the ground close to her. She grimaced a little but continued to struggle. Dragonite, his attack nearly over, finally saw the young Dragonair. He promptly shifted his power towards her. "DRAAAAAAAAAA!" The scream pierced Sirius's ears. "STOOOOOOOP!" Dragonite immediately ended the beam, hearing his master's voice. The light came back into the arena. Sirius was still shielding his eyes, not knowing what was happening. Dragonite sunk to the ground, resting. Sirius was still in disbelief. Lance must have seen Reis's limp, charred body. Sirius painfully dropped his arms to see. "DRAAAAAAAA!" The hawk-like cry echoed throughout the arena. Reis completed her evolution and gracefully flew through the air. "DRAAAAAA!" she cried again. "Reis!" Sirius was thunderstruck. Still in awe, he remembered the match. "Dragon Rage, Reis!" "DRAAAAAGON!" Reis raised her wings high and shot out a series of fiery, pale white tornadoes. Dragonite was burned and pounded by the fierce winds and blazing fire. "Thunder!" Reis raised her arms and struck down upon Dragonite with a huge lightning bolt. Dragonite fainted immediately. Sirius was in more disbelief than before. "I... I won?" Lance gingerly nodded. TBC..
