BH said, as he pointed at Car'tos. > Before Car'tos could answer, the trio was alerted to footfalls behind them. They spun around, to face two figures, swathed in cloaks--and bearing jagged knives. Their faces were covered by their hoods, but through the shadows, Nori could make out wrinkled folds of skin, and glowing yellow eyes. "Who are they?" The first creature hissed, "And why have they entered the outlands?" "They are humans..." the second creature replied, "They do not belong beyond the Eastern border. Car'tos sniffed at this last remark. The two creatures eyed him, cautiously. "Those uniforms... these creatures are Rockets..." The first creature seemed more surprised, than anything else. "The Rockets have been destroyed..." the second creature protested. "You know that as well as I." "No creature would dare bear that crest, lest they be a true Rocket." the first creature said, pointedly. "Who else but a Rocket, would be so foolish as to tempt Lord Simon's wrath, by donning that outfit?" "Agreed." The second creature might have smiled, as it nodded. "It is a known fact, that Rockets are stupid." "Waddaya mean, Rockets are stupid?" Car'tos cried, drawing his gun. Black Hole pulled out a weapon as well... Nori just sat down, and folded her arms behind her head. "Who'm I to argue?" she thought to herself, "Rockets ARE stupid." "But wait..." the second creature frowned, lowering its blade, "What of the legends? The ones that foretold..." "...Of a creature that fell from the sky, and was destined to free our people from bondage..." the first one continued. "...A creature who bore the crest of the Rocket Gang..." "...And slew Lord Simon's troops, within his base..." The two creatures glanced up from their private oratory, and eyed the trio doubtfully. Car'tos scowled, and tightened his grip on the gun. "Would one of you mind telling us, what's going on?" The creatures frowned, growing more suspicious. "You see," Car'tos grinned helplessly, "We just fell through a porthole, and we might be a little out of place..." The two creatures facefaulted. * * * "In the years after you left..." the first creature began, not sure that it believed their story, about originating from late in the twentieth century. More likely, they were scouts, sent by the humans, to spy on its people. "...there raged a great war, between Team Rocket, and the Anti-Rockets. It was a fierce gang war, between two groups, which had both grown too large. For a time, it seemed that no one was winning... until, Lord Simon made an offer..." "The Rockets were cowards." the second creature hissed. "The Rockets were fools." the first one interjected, angrily. "He made them an offer, gave them a chance to defect." "The Rockets were given a chance to take back their lives... to sever all ties to the gang, and live as normal humans once again." the second creature mused. "For most, it was a dream come true; many were tired of being criminals, and ready to settle down, but saw no way out of the gang. Simon promised sanctuary from the Rocket Gang Boss, and immunity from the courts." "They accepted Simon's terms," the first creature continued, "and the Rocket Gang quickly disbanded. Still, there were some, who thought their Rocket lives exciting, and neglected to conform. These Rockets went rogue, and bitter over the gang's defeat, became more murderous than ever." "The former Rockets feared them, and stood behind Lord Simon, for protection." The second creature picked up, "So desperate were they for help, that he easily coerced them into joining HIS gang. He bided his time, multiplying allies, and when the time was right, struck down the remaining Rockets." The first creature laughed, hollowly. "Now, his supporters were more numerous than ever. His Anti-Rockets saw him as a leader. The former Rockets saw him as a savior. And the townspeople saw him as the one, who had destroyed a hated gang, stopped a war, and rid them of the violent ronin." "Backed by this army of supporters, Lord Simon began his rise to power..."
