"I like to work alone," Gil insisted. "You work for us now," Giovanni pointed out. "So who is the new lackey, anyway?" Gil asked. "His name is Gordon Murray," Giovanni began, "a person very willing to assist Team Rocket." "Fine, I'll just make a 'go for' out of him," Gil replied, "'Go for' this, 'go for' that..." "As you wish," Giovanni replied. ********** "Welcome to the team," Gil greeted. "I hear you killed your last partner," Gordon replied. "First of all, he was never my partner," Gil began, "he was more of a lackey. Partners implies equality, and I have yet to find anyone equal to my own drive to rule. Secondly, I didn't kill him. He died while we were performing an experiment on the fabric of reality. Gil began to explain the tale of his life to Gordon. About how he was raised the wealthy son of the Bates family and born Gil Bates III. How he was a graduate at Pokemon Tech before Team Rocket recruited him on the bridge. How he was asked to steal the works of a fellow student named Steve Fugues, who was both brilliant and was supposed to work for Silph Co. How he defeated Steve, attacked him with a psychic attack of Alakazam's, and stole the notes. Notes which led him to find a spatial anomaly in the Seafoam Islands and destroyed not only his henchmen at the time, but 4 of his 6 Pokemon. "So where is Steve Fugues now?" Gordon asked. "I have no idea," said Gil. When Gordon had joined Team Rocket so many years ago, he wasn't expecting to meet a maniacal genius like Gil who wore a suit, a lousy haircut, glasses, and yet no "R." "You don't look like the type to join Team Rocket," Gordon confessed. "Why do you say that?" Gil asked. "You just don't seem the type to be involved with crimes and gangs and all the other evils in this world," Gordon explained. "Listen, Gordon," Gil began, "what do you think the meaning of life is?" "I don't know," Gordon replied. Gil held up a Pokeball. "A Pokeball?" Gordon asked. "Exactly," Gil began. "Pokemon is a sport, an art. You weaken a creature and then you enslave it. You take control of it. All the while, they think you're doing them a favor. Well, to me, the world is my Pokeball. Team Rocket focuses itself on stealing Pokemon and other valuables, and that's all fine and dandy for their game playing or whatever they plan to do with their Pokemon. Yet they put so much attention into these creatures that they fail to notice the bigger picture. While their goal is to own all Pokemon within the world, my goal is to own the world itself." "I don't follow," Gordon admitted. "In this world, there is chaos and their is order," Gil began, "chaos which weakens the integrity of the planet and order which reinforces it. It is my job to weaken and put the world in a state of chaos. To place as much destruction as I deem necessary until the world enters a state of complete depression. A need for change." "And then?" "And then I rescue them, act as a savior," Gil continued, "even if the problems which I save them from are the very problems I impose. People tend to become enslaved by what they love as the Brave New World displayed." "That's an ambitious dream of yours," Gordon thought. "All dreams can become a reality if we try hard enough," said Gil. "So how are you planning to start making it a reality?" Gordon asked. "Simple," Gil replied. "We become Capitalists. We get everyone with even a hint of greed on our side, and accuse everyone else of being communists. We're going to start a new company soon called Pokesoft and take the entire Pokemon industry out from under the Pokemon League's feet. They won't know what hit them." ************ TBC To reply, remove "puters" from the e-mail address.
