Robert stares at the bushes, dumbfounded. Mithril-rama joins him in the staring.
They both remain quiet, and think on a solution. While thinking, Robert's mind
wanders, as well as his eyes, onto the subject of Rilli. He sees her standing there
next to him, a contemplative look on her face, and can hardly believe that he
thought for a brief moment the day before that her love wasn't true. He moistens his
lip as he gazes at her, unable to turn away...
"I know!" Mithril-rama chirps, knocking Robert out of his trance.
Robert furrows his brow, "Know what?"
Mithril-rama chuckles and points at the undergrowth, "How to get past all... that!"
Robert looks at the bushes and remembers what he was supposed to be thinking about,
"Oh yeah! How?"
"How else? Pokemon!" Mithril-rama giggles at the obvious answer to all of life's
problems.
"Of course!" Robert places his hand on his belt, "...but which Pokemon should I use?
Haunter can get to the other side, but that won't do *us* much good... Pikachu's
shocking won't do much good either... Graveler doesn't know how to Dig... Farfetch'd
is... Hey! Farfetch'd! Well, he does have that twig in his beak..." Robert grabs the
fourth Pokeball, plucks it off of his belt, and throws it in front of the dense
bushes.
"Far! Farf!" The familiar quack comes from the brown wild duck with the green sprig
in his beak. The Pokemon stands in front of the bushes, unsure on how to proceed.
"Fetch'd?"
Robert points at the obstacle, "Alright, Farfetch'd, get rid of those bushes!"
Farfetch'd nods once and charges the bushes as fast as he can... He slashes away at
them with his weak twig, but it is flimsy and doesn't do any actual cutting. In
fact, the only thing that does get cut is Farfetch'd rear end, which gets caught on
a torn! Farfetch'd quacks a profanity and leaps out of the bushes, running with his
wings behind his butt! "FARF!"
Robert's grimaces at Farfetch'd pain, watching as he circles around, "Ouch! Maybe
Farfetch'd wasn't such a good idea... Hmm, wait! I know! Farfetch'd, do that silly
little Swords Dance of yours!"
Farfetch'd stops in his tracks and rubs his fanny with his wing one last time before
putting both wings up like a ballerina. He twirls around and spins, leaping
gracefully into the air... and falling flat on his face! Fortunately, after the
spectacle which ended in a less than graceful manner, the twig in his beak is harder
and sharper than before.
"And now..." Robert scratches his head, "If I remember correctly, I taught him a
move as the S. S. Anne was sinking... That move that the Captain of the ship gave
me, thinking it was Fly... Oh yeah! CUT! Farfetch'd, cut those bushes!"
Farfetch'd leers at the imposing bushes, his sharper stick ready to do some damage.
The wild duck charges head first into the bushes, slashing insanely with the
hardened leek. He is soon just a brown blur and green leaves fly everywhere!
Robert and Mithril-rama both back away, hug each other, and close their eyes to
avoid any flying thorns.
The commotion caused by the cutting of the shrubbery dies down only after what seems
like two minutes. Robert opens one eye, then follows up with the other one. The once
impenetrable wall of nature has a new tunnel right through the middle of it.
Standing at the entrance of this tunnel is Robert's victorious panting Farfetch'd!
Robert runs over to his Farfetch'd, which has some cut marks on his body, and rubs
his hands over him with care. "Geeze, Farfetch'd, you'd think that after all that
work, you'd gain some experience, yet experience is only gained from Pokemon
battles. Go figure!" Farfetch'd falls over and decides to stay on the ground, still
panting wildly.
Mithril-rama walks over to Robert and his duck Pokemon. "Is Farfetch'd going to be
okay?"
Robert grabs a Potion from within his backpack. "I still have this Potion from
Cerulean City." He applies the medication onto Farfetch'd, who leaps up, good as
new! Farfetch'd dances around, "Far Fetch'd, Far!"
Rilli smiles, "I guess that's a yes! C'mon, the Diglett Cave's just up ahead!"
Robert and Mithril-rama drop down and crawl into the tunnel in the shrubbery that
Farfetch'd made for them. Farfetch'd walks up ahead in the lead, cutting down some
pieces that might get in Robert and Rilli's way. After five minutes, Robert and
Mithril-rama both stand up on the other side of the bushes. They stand before the
entrance to the Diglett Cave.
