Date: Monday, May 03, 1999 6:58 PM Two sleeping bodies are still huddled in a large bed in a room in the Cinnabar Island Pokemon Center. The sheets are tossed about recklessly, and Robert and Rilli both snore lightly, not loud enough to wake each other up. Robert had set the alarm the night before, but they were both so tired from their extremely long day... The day before, they awoke in Fuchsia City, Robert earned a Soul Badge, Mithril-rama went to her Grandmother's house, they had quite an adventure in the Seafoam Caves, went on to a giant party, and the night ended with the tragedy of seeing Nurse Joy horribly wounded at the hands of some heartless monster... All of this turmoil is now preventing the two children from waking up... Noon had passed over an hour ago... "Mmmm..." Robert wraps his arm around Rilli's silky nightgown, hugging her close as if she was a pillow, not knowing any better in his state of unconsciousness. There was a little bit of drool hanging from his lip, but it didn't make contact with Mithril-rama at all. She just smiled and hugged him back subconsciously. They lie there in this position for another few minutes, until Robert fidgets in his sleep, and Rilli notices since she is so close! Her eyes open slowly and Robert's face comes into focus. Mithril-rama smiles upon seeing the drool on his lip and wipes it off herself... She rolls herself over to check the closest clock, the one set up on her night stand. She blinks upon seeing what time it is... "It's 2:35 already?!" She places her hand firmly upon Robert's pajama sleeve and shakes him around! "Huh? Wha?" Robert's closed eyes become slits. He automatically rubs them, "What's going on?" Mithril-rama giggles at his grogginess, "Good morn... er, good afternoon! It's 2:35!" "WHAT?!" Robert sits up in his bed, his hair standing up straight, "We've got so much to do today!" Rilli furrows her brow, "Like what?" "Well, I need to go earn a new badge, for one!" Robert ponders what else has to be done, "Of course, lunch would be nice before that... and... something else... I was planning to do...?" "Check up on Nurse Joy?" Mithril-rama adds to the list, remembering the horrors from the night before. Robert nods slowly, "Oh yeah... That too. In fact, we should do that right now!" Robert jumps out of bed in his blue and white pajamas. He begins to head out the door, then turns around, "Aren't you coming too, Rilli?" Mithril-rama smirks as she steps out of bed, "We might want to at least put some shoes on first... and maybe some street clothes?" She walks over to the nearby closet and selects her choice of wardrobe for the day! "Right." Robert laughs, looking down at his wrinkled bedtime clothes. "...we should take a bath, too!" "Together?" Rilli asks playfully, chuckling to herself. Robert smiles and reaches for his backpack to select his clothes for the day, "Maybe." By 3:00 PM, Robert has already taken a shower and gotten dressed, and he is waiting for Mithril-rama to finish up. For some reason, the Police Officers stationed at the Pokemon Center didn't want them to go to the bathroom together! While he waits, he decides to check his E-Mail, although he believes that there will be nothing new since he checked yesterday. Much to his surprise, when he logs on, he hears the sound, "You've got mail!" and goes to investigate the new letter from his good friend, Bill the Lighthouse keeper... "Dear Friend, It's so nice to hear from you again! I'm glad to know that you are still trying to become a Pokemon Master. It is a very noble quest, indeed! I hope you haven't already been to the Cinnabar Island Gym by the time to read this letter, since I think I can help you with your experience there. For the past few days, I have noticed that my Golduck, evolved from the Psyduck you caught for me so long ago, has been developing rapidly. I have discovered something that I didn't know since the day you caught the Pokemon: it is a female Golduck! You might be wondering how I came to this conclusion? As a Psyduck, the Pokemon appeared rather neutral, and I wasn't sure what it was, so I assumed it was a male, since I do not have that machine that Professor Oak uses to determine a Pokemon's gender. When she evolved three days ago, she didn't show any signs of being female. However, Golducks must mature quickly, because she not only grew physically after evolving, but also mentally. She developed a new form of body that seems almost humanoid in nature, and that astounds me. This new form she has, which she didn't have upon initial evolution, most definitely proves that she is female! What truly concerns me, though, and this is where you come in, is the fact that as she grows more mature, she craves to leave this small area and go out to explore the world at large. I imagine that the desire comes from her increased mental capacity. Since you are the one who caught her for me, I would so greatly appreciate it if you could add her to your team! I have already taken the liberty to upload her Pokeball into your Computer retrieval system, and you can call upon her whenever you wish! I'm sure she would be a great help in your match for the Volcano Badge that the Gym Leader Blaine offers in Cinnabar Island. As I mentioned earlier, she evolved right after she learned Confusion as a Psyduck. By this fact alone, I would estimate she is currently Level 36. Besides her Scratch, Disable, and Confusion attacks that she learned naturally over time, I took the liberty to teach her Surf, since she won't learn an actual water based attack in a long time. I hope that you will take her as one of your own. Be careful, though, she is very clumsy! I'm hoping to hear from you again, soon! Yours truly, Bill" Robert's eyes are open wide. He exclaims, "YES! A new Pokemon! Plus, it wasn't a handout like Charmeleon... I actually caught this one on my own! Sure, I didn't raise her... but... but... I need to see what she looks like!" He looks down at his belt to chose who he will send to Bill. "Hmm, I know Charmeleon might not be ready to see Bill again... but I won't need him in a Fire Pokemon Gym... So... here goes!" Charmeleon's Pokeball falls down under the tube to exchange Pokemon. Robert, trembling from excitement, enters the necessary information into the computer. Charmeleon's Pokeball gets sucked into the tube as the electronic message is sent to Bill. Golduck's Pokeball falls out of the tube and rolls around for a moment... "Yep, that's one of the Pokeballs I left home with!" Robert picks it up, sniffs it, and hugs it close. "Okay... I wonder what this one's going to look like... I don't think I've ever seen a Golduck before!" He shivers as he tosses the Pokeball! A flash of red light appears and when it is gone, a glossy blue Golduck stands tall! Her eyes and the gem on her forehead are a shiny ruby red color. Her beak is long, sleek, and gray. She stands with her webbed hands resting on her wide blue hips. Indeed, her form is very curvaceous. Her upper chest definitely shows that she is female, and it goes down to a small waist. Her legs aren't too long, but her thick tail rests alongside them... "Wow..." Robert's eyes become wide and watery, "That lovely creature is clumsy?!" Golduck sees her trainer, and not remembering the brief time they spent together when Robert caught her, decides to walk over to him for a closer examination... Her large webbed feet step on her tail, and she falls face flat on to the Pokemon Center's floor! She quickly gets up, only to trip again, and do a short spin, before falling into Robert's open arms. Robert feels uncomfortable supporting his new human-like duck Pokemon... Mithril-rama walks out of the hallway, fully dressed, and wiping her hair with a white towel. She sees the Golduck as she swoons into Robert's arms. "What the heck is that, Robert?!" Robert looks up at Rilli and places Golduck on her own two webbed feet. "It's that Psyduck I caught at Bill's the day after I met you. Remember that? She evolved and Bill wants her to get out more... so I get to train her!" "She's rather..." Mithril-rama eyes the Golduck, "...uhh, talented, isn't she?" Robert nods eagerly, "She knows Scratch, Disable, Confusion, and Surf!" Mithril-rama falls over, and quickly recomposes herself, "That's not what I... Oh, never mind. Are you ready to go get some lunch and see if Nurse Joy is alright?" Robert runs his hands down the plumage on Golduck's head, "Sure! Let me just recall Golduck... I wouldn't want her to trip over herself again!" Golduck hears this comment, and blushes, her cheeks matching the ruby on her forehead! Soon, she is back inside the sixth Pokeball on Robert's belt. "Okay, I'm ready, Rilli!" -Robert
