A peaceful calm blew across the area.
Everything was quiet, save for the crickets chirping, and the occasional
owl hooting.
A soft wind drifted by now and again.
The forest slept.
But tonight the silence would be broken.
A quiet chant preluded to a burst of light tearing a path through the
trees and bushes, destroying everything in it's path.
The sounds of boots crumpling what was left of the foliage filled the
air. A few fires had broken out here and there. It didn't matter.
Spectre stepped from the forest. His face was an odd compilation of
anger, agitation, and fear.
Anger from getting lost in the forest.
Agitation from not being able to find his way out.
Fear from the constant worry he felt, not knowing where Kat was, or even
if she was okay.
Regardless, he was out now. The lights and sounds of Fuchsia City blared
in the distance. If he kept walking at his current pace he could make it
by early morning.
Just a few more hours.
Spectre grunted a bit as he trudged down the mountainside. Funny...he
hadn't remembered going uphill.
Bit in all the disorientation of the forest, he hadn't paid much
attention to a whole lot of anything at all.
The only things on his mind were Fuchsia, and Kat.
And Fuchsia wasn't a problem anymore.
/The hell with it.../ he thought. /I'm -not- walking./
A smirk came over his face as he vanished from sight.
He reappeared some 200 yards from where he was. He quickly vanished
again, reappearing quite a ways farther along. Going at that pace, he'd
be in Fuchsia within the hour.
<"GOKOU! *BOOOOM!*" scene switch>
Spectre phased back in somewhere near the city limits. He figured it
wouldn't be a good idea to let anyone see his preferred form of
transportation.
He dashed into town at near-full speed.
Entering the Pokemon Center, Spec pulled out the pokeball to his newly
captured Magmar.
He handed it to a Chansey Nurse, who ran off to get it healed.
Spec crashed down on the couch, idly tilting his head to check the time.
5:30AM. Damn it was early. He'd need to sleep sometime. Staying awake
that long would eventually get to him.
He was losing himself in thought when he felt someone tapping on his
shoulder.
Looking back, he saw Joy standing there.
"Are you Spectre Hikage?"
Spec nodded slightly.
"I was to tell you, by a young woman named Katrina that she had to rush
home."
Spec blinked. "Home? Do you know why?"
Joy shrugged a bit as Chansey came out of the back room, carrying Spec's
pokeball. "Chan sey!"
"Thanks."
"Chansey!"
Spectre smiled and thanked the both of them and headed out. "I'll be
with you soon."
<"KAKAROTTOOOO!" scene switch>
Spectre stood on the edge of the ocean.
"Damn it all to hell. There's gotta be a way to Fuchsia."
The water washed up over his boots.
He crossed his arms. "Can't take Scyther...his wings couldn't hold us
both up that long....and I sure as hell can't teleport that far."
He grumbled and headed back inland.
Spec opened the door to the Pokemon Center again. "Nurse Joy? Do you
happen to have a phonebook around?"
She blinked, then nodded, raising the large book onto the counter.
"Mind if I use the phone?"
"Be my guest."
"Thanks."
Kat was sleeping semi-peacefully in bed. She never was able to sleep
entirely well. She was brought out of her slumber by the sounds of a
ringing.
Getting up, she sleepily walked to the phone.
"Hello?" She mumbled.
"Kat? It's me..."
"Spec? Where are you? Are you okay?"
Spec grinned at her through the vidscreen window.
"I'm fine, I'm in Fuchsia. I could use some shuteye though. I'm gonna be
finding a way there tomorrow, okay? I'll probably sleep all day long."
Kat nodded. "Okay...I'll see you then then?"
Spec smiled and gave her a thumbs-up. "You got it! G'night, Kat-chan."
"Goodnight, Spec..."
The two hung up.
Spec chuckled to himself as he went to lay down.
/It's almost time..../
