From: Spawn <nmvds@aol.computers> Subject: [PW!] Gil Bates Visits Bill's Lighthouse Date: Friday, June 18, 1999 6:05 PM Gil Bates prepared to walk along a bridge in Cerulean City along with one of his Rocket henchmen. The same bridge where he beat several contest trainers for what seemed like so long ago. The same bridge where he was recruited by Team Rocket and began to accumulate his position in power. Ah, sweet memories. "Hi there," a young challenger spoke, "I'm the first of five trainers on this bridge. Beat us and win a pr--" "Now, listen here, kid," Gil began to state as his henchman, Gordon, choked the child. "I don't have time for this. I've beaten you punks before and I could do it again. Easily. Now, you have a choice. You can let met beat your Pokemon to smithereens or we could just fight hand to hand on until one you or the lackey is beaten into submission. Or, you could let me pass and we'll leave it at that. Do you understand me?" The challenger began to shake uncontrollably in fear and nodded his head. "Now, I understand that a guy named Bill is nearby. Would you mind showing me where he lives exactly?" The challenger meekly pointed the directions. "You've been a big help," Gil smiled. He gestured to the henchman to put the kid down. "Here, have a prize." The youth received a Pokeball as Gil walked off happily. Or at least he thought it was a Pokeball. That was the last thing he remembered before the explosion occurred. He wouldn't challenge anyone else for an hour "We really need a more efficient recruitment system," thought Gil, "we seem to be getting a lot of losers these days." ************* "Hello, I'm Bill," said the man on the intercom, "do you know how to cook without tofu?" "Sure I do," said Gil, "I've been a gourmet chef for years." "Perfect," said Bill, "come on into my lighthouse." Gil walked on inside. "Now Bill, I understand you invented the Pokemon storage system. Well, I'm a programmer. I'd like to see a copy of the source code." "I can't do that," Bill replied, "those are classified files which only Pokemon League Officials with clearance can access." "Well, that's just too bad," said Gil, "if you don't give me your source code, I'm only left with one alternative." "What's that?" asked Bill. "I have to take it from you," Gil smiled. "To rid the world of opposition, to assume a leadership position," Gil Bates's henchman, Gordon Murray began. "To make the world do as I tell 'em," Gil continued, "and have them buy all that I sell them." "Gordon." "Bates." "The course of action which you chose..." "Doesn't matter, for you will lose." With that, Gil threw a few of his Pokeballs. "Dratini, Alakazam, Marowak, Porygon, go!" "I'm not much of a fighter, but I'll try anyway," said Bill as he reached for his own Pokemon. "Eevee, Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, attack!" "Porygon, convert to Jolteon's type and use sharpen," screamed Gil, "Marowak, use your bone club on Jolteon." Porygon began to crackle as electricity started to spark around him. It's body grew sharper as it did so. Meanwhile, Marowak's bone club managed to stun Jolteon as Bill was still considering his options. "Jolteon, use double kick on Marowak! Eevee, take down attack!" The two Pokemon began to pummel at the poor Marowak. "Marowak, rage attack!" yelled Gil. "Alakazam, use psychic on Eevee!" Eevee was taken down in one shot. Marowak allowed it's rage to build as Jolteon began to pound at it. "Flareon, use Ember on Alakazam!" Alakazam began to shriek in pain. "Alakazam, psybeam on Vaporeon!" The psychic Pokemon obeyed, hitting Vaporeon and confusing it at the same time. Unsure of what to do, Vaporeon began to attack Flareon." "Dratini, ice beam on Flareon! Porygon, use your agility on Vaporeon!" Dratini's ice beam managed to completely defeat the beaten Flareon. Porygon, in it's new electric type, began to finish off Vaporeon. "This is what happens when you don't have any time to train your Pokemon for actual battles," said GIl. "Now, I would like that source code of yours." Bill gestured to a nearby computer. "Porygon, see what you can find in there, would you?" Gil asked. Porygon obeyed. "I am going to rule the world of Pokemon, someday. The more information I have, the better. That means I need the information on how Pokemon storage takes place so I can design my own." Gil then picked up a nearby phone and called his boss. "Giovanni," he began, "phase one is on it's way. Soon we will have full control over the Pokemon industry. Tell Tom the good news." To reply, remove "puters" from the e-mail address.
