From: Adrian Pheonix Morgan <ldyevrfall@aol.com> Subject: [PW!] Old Dog, New Tricks (Part 1) Date: Wednesday, June 16, 1999 5:58 PM ((OOC: Please do not e-mail here, this name is used as a dramatic technique to hide the "old dog's" identity. The next post should be from this mysterious figure. )) "I need that pokémon I ordered last week! It should be in by now! Ohh.. just wait until my daddy gets hold of this story." That is Jessica Everfall, the most stubborn and snotty woman this side of Celadon City. Her father? Oh, he is the most corrupt man this side of Pokécountry as a whole. He holds a lot of power in Celadon alone and isn't afraid to pass some on to his daughter. Out of the back of the large pet shop comes a rather mangy looking ninetails. "Princess? Don't tell me that is mine! Well, I guess I could take her over to Kayce Pet Grooming and see if they can help." The clerk nods and types a few things onto his computer. "And how will you be paying for Princess ma'm?" "I won't. Put it on my daddy's account, he won't mind it at all." The clerk gave a distressed look and typed her father's name in on the payment line. Jessica walked out with a pokéball in her hands, partially hidden behind her back in remorse and humiliation. She ran into the groomer just in time to avoid the regular question from the pesky kid trainer wanna-be, "Are you a REAL trainer?". She set the pokéball on the desk and about an hour later, and another 10,000 P on her father's account, Princess strolled out in beauty and style. Just in time to hear the introduction of none other than... "Team Rocket here! Surrender those pokémon and we won't have to use my friend here. The young rocket man was referring to his purple chrome katana which he had readied. His eyes watched from behind his cloak as his partner, a female rocket in red and black, collected all the pokéballs. Jessica could do nothing but watch as the woman raced back to her partner's side. It was only one brave kid who tried to stop them. The kid stepped out of the back where he had been working and tossed a pokeball at the fleeing rockets. "STARYU!" The enthusiastic pokémon jumped at the woman, at the same time the cloaked man pulled his hand out of the cloak towards his partner and a wall of flames sent the water pokémon onto the floor badly burned. "star... star... yu". It's eyes fell shut. The duo ran out the door without further conflict. "Damn rockets!!" Jessica was infuriated. In the rocket spirit she grabbed a pidgey pokéball off the shelf of the store and called it out. It was the pidgey that carried her out of the store and into the sky where she scanned the streets for the rockets. They couldn't have gotten far! Jessica didn't know how to tell her father, but he found out. He also called in a favor to Officer Jenny and a Scyther trainer from Saffron to look for the two distinct rockets and recover the lost pokémon. It wasn't long that Jessica gave up and set out on her own. It was bound to be a long night. She wandered the night streets, each street lamp providing an extra strangeness to the freaks and punks that wandered around the clubs she passed. There was only one door, just past 'The Goliath Club', that she new rockets stayed. She sat outside on a bench while she waited for the right person to come out. "Might I ask why you waiting around a place like this?" A brown haired man stepped out and startled Jessica. She glanced over to the man, grungy and smelling of alcohol, and said nothing but it was obvious that she didn't want to talk. "OK, if you don't want to talk maybe I could offer you a safe ride out of this part of the city, I mean your father wouldn't be very fond of you being out here alone." "My father? How do you know my father?" Her eyes opened and she became nervous within the building paranoia. "Who doesn't know your father, baby? Don't worry, I already called one of his associate to come pick you up. I figure it's the safest thing for you." "You did WHAT? If my father finds out... oh my god there he is!" A black limo with white stars pulls quickly around the corner. "I'm sorry but it's best. You should see some of these punks when it gets late... " A gleam of red flashes down the street. A cloak hovers down the side walk and two eyes appear beneath the hood. "Oh my god, THOSE EYES!" The bright specks flickered in the dim lighting like a candle's light, it was him. Jessica stood and ran across the road, right in front of the limo, and barely missed getting hit. The cloaked figure changed directions and ran the opposite direction. The chase was on. It wasn't long till the man that had called Jessica's father realized what had happened and jumped the hood of the limousine and ran after her. Screeching tires pulled into a U-turn and grabbed helplessly at the road for a second before catching any traction. Jessica saw the man dodge down the alleyway and she followed. Then the man was gone. Jessica's eyes scanned the alley again and found no one. She didn't even notice the car pull past the dark street in the blackness behind her. She was totally off guard when the rocket jumped down from a low balcony above. He spun the cloak he was wearing around Jessica's shoulders and grabbed her arms. "Walk with me." Those were the only words she heard and she didn't even have a face to put them to. The night acted like a death shroud to hide the man's face and body. They ducked inside the third door down from The Goliath and were hidden from view. The streetlight flickered on the corner and died leaving nothing but the neon background to illuminate this big world. I hope it'll be enough. ((Reply!! If you have any idea who the mystery man might be I'll listen just put down comments. I gotta know that these stories are at least being read. I'll interact with more of you later, right now I just want to sum up what is going on. Special Thanks: to Jessica Everfall for letting me make her look like a snob and letting me use her name for this post. Again please don't mail her, I would hate to be banned for life I may want to do this again. Till our next installment... look for "Old Dog, New Tricks (Part II)"))
