Tom was an average student student at Pokemon Tech. Well, not real average
student when you thought about it. The average student wasn't born blind. And
the average student wasn't forced to live out his dreams of becoming a Pokemon
master through computer simulations. Most students would probably choose to
fight with real Pokemon if they had a choice. Tom didn't have that luxery.
Just then he heard footsteps. Unfamiliar footsteps. Along with barking from
his pet Arcanine, Lassie.
"Lassie, what is it?" he asked.
"Arc, Arc, Arc!" it yelled.
"There's a man coming?" he asked.
"Arc!"
"And he looks mean and very, very, rich?" Tom continued.
"Arc!"
Tom thought to himself for a moment. Ever since he had been born blind, his
ears developed to the point of compensation. He had a knack for understanding
what the heck Pokemon were saying.
"Be prepared to use your take down attack," Tom advised.
Just then, the door opened.
"It's an honor to meet you," the man greeted.
"Gil Bates?" Tom asked. "You're that rich guy who went on the news recently
to discuss his new computer company, Pokesoft. I know a bunch of people
already signed up to invest in the stock.
"True, I need your help before I can proceed," Gil responde.d
"Why me?"
"Because you're an intelligent person," Gil explained. "I know that you
nicknamed yourself Blind Tom on the internet and started somewhat of a legend
for yourself. Now I need your help for my company."
"And what's in it for me?"
"The ability to experience the world despite your blindness. To not only be
able to experience the world as a Pokemon Master or whatever you want to be
without risk to yourself of ever getting harmed, but to have abilities far
beyond any normal humans."
"You mean VR?"
"Sort of, think of VR to another level," said Gil, "to you, it'll be a
computer simulation. But you're actions within the simulation will be able to
control a robot we are prepared to construct just for you. Everything the
robot senses, you sense. And to everyone around it, it's not virtual reality.
It is reality. We call it the TR-BOT."
"Team Rocket?" Tom asked, confused.
"What other team would be able to supply such a fantastic creation?" Gil
asked.
Tom had to think long and hard about what he'd do. Finally, he gave in.
"Excellent," said Gil. "Is there anything we could do for you until then? To
assist in your research?"
"Yes," Tom began, "there's a man named Bill who lives nearby here in a
lighthouse. I've been trying to crack all of the Pokemon computer systems he's
designed, but I can't seem to find any holes yet. Perhaps you could find a
copy of his source code for me?"
"Done," said Gil. "And tell your friends that they should invest invest in my
company. It should open up tomorow at around $2 a share. You could be a
billionaire."
