From: Dan <kirb9701@aol.computer> Subject: [PW!] Team Rocket, Articuno, and an Old Rival...Part 1 Date: Sunday, June 27, 1999 3:08 PM [I've been working on this for over a month, and I hope it turns out good. This story introduces my new character, Amy, who will be included in most of my stories from now on. WG coming soon.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- ~Seafoam Islands A pink-haired girl, wearing a white Team Rocket uniform, stepped out of the cave. A big operation is going on in the cave, and she needs help to stop it. She needs someone that might trust her, since, being a Team Rocket member, she might get taken in with the rest of them if she contacted the police. Then she remembered Dan. Though she hadn't seen made the best impression when she first met him, he had made something of a name for himself among some of Team Rocket's members, and he was a great Pokemon trainer, too. He was last seen in Fuschia City. The girl took out a phone and dialed the Pokemon Center, for that was the most probable location he was staying at. ----------------------------------- ---------- Team Rocket, Articuno, and and Old Rival ----------------------------------- ---------- ~Fuschia City Pokemon Center Dan was standing in the lobby, watching people walk in and out with Pokemon. He sighed. "It sure has gotten boring ever since I left Grandpa Canyon." Than he heard his name being announced. "Dan? Will Dan please come to the front desk?" Dan began to walk up to the front desk, thinking, "I hope whatever this is will make the day more interesting..." "There's a phone call for you," Joy said. "A phone call?" Dan said. "Strange, I wasn't expecting anything..." He picked up the reciever. "Dan," the voice on the other end began. "I have important information on a Team Rocket operation in the Seafoam Islands. A lengendary Pokemon's freedom is at stake. Meet me on the shores of the main island of Seafoam, the one with the entrance to the cave." *click* "Seafoam Islands and a legendary Pokemon?" Dan asked. "Team Rocet must be trying to capture Articuno! We have to hurry!" Dan ran outside, taking out Aerodactyl's Pokeball. ~Seafoam Islands The girl put away the phone and sat down on the beach. She stared out at the sparkling sea, thinking about her past. She had called Dan, of all people, not only to stop Team Rocket, but to patch things up... ~Flashback~ Dan walked up the steps to Prof. Oak's lab, ready to pick his first Pokemon. A girl stood at the top of the steps, holding a Pokeball. "What are you doing here already?" Dan said. "I just got my first Pokemon," the girl answered. "It pays to get here early." Dan walked into the lab. "Looks like you finally got your Pokemon," the girl said as Dan walked out of the lab. "Took you long enough." Dan grumbled. "I'm going to beat all of the gym leaders, and then the Elite Four, and you'll be left in the dust!" the girl said, laughing, and ran off. ~~~~~~~~ She had spoke too soon. She had taken down Brock easily, then Misty, Lt. Surge, and Erika. But when she came to Sabrina, she failed miserably. She tried twice more, but still lost. After all that bragging about defeating all of the Gym Leaders and the Elite Four, she couldn't return home. Then, after a long while, she heard what Dan had done...what she had failed to do. That was all she could take. She needed something else to do. So she decided to join Team Rocket, to try to make a name for herself there. The leader, Giovanni, was reluctant to accept her at first, but something convinced him later. She sighed, and continued to look out at the water. ~Above the sea, on Aerodactyl "Don't give up yet, Aerodactyl!" Dan shouted. "We should be almost there!" "Fairy! Fairy!" Clefairy said, pointing to an island in the distance and jumping up and down. "Don't do that!" Dan said. Just as he said that, Clefairy jumped...right off of Aerodactyl. "Oh no!" Dan said. He reached over the side, making sure not to fall off himself. "Gotcha!" After setting Clefairy down, Dan said, "That's the island we're looking for! Let's land." Aerodactyl swooped down onto the shore, making a perfectly smooth landing. Just then a thought struck Dan. "We never found out what the person we're meeting looks like!" "Clefairy fairy," Clefairy said. "Ok then," Dan said. "Let's start looking." - Dan walked along the beach with Clefairy, searching his mind for clues. Aerodactyl waited at the landing spot. "Let's see...I'd say the voice on the phone belonged to a girl," Dan said. "It sounded awfully familiar..." "Clefairy! Clefairy!" Clefairy said. "What?" Dan asked. "Clefairy!" Clefairy said again, pointing to a spot in the distance. Dan looked in the direction Clefairy was pointing. "Looks like you've done it again, Clefairy," he said. "That just might be the person we're looking for." "Clefairy," Clefairy answered, looking very proud of himself. "Let's go and see if that's who we're looking for," Dan said. With that, Clefairy ran off. "Hey, wait for me!" - "Fairy!" Clefairy said, jumping in front of the Rocket girl. "Yahh!" she said, startled, and jumped to her feet. Backing up, she bumped into Dan. "What?" Dan said. "A Team Rocket member?" He snatched a Pokeball from his belt and got ready to throw it. "No!" the girl said. "I'm not here to battle!" Dan looked at her, trying to decide whether to trust her or not. He saw the pleading look on her face, and somehow, that convinced him. He put away the Pokeball. "Thank you," the girl said. "Now, I have important things to tell you." "Wait," Dan said. "You were the one that called me?" "Yes, that was me." She didn't bother saying any more. The look on Dan's face showed that he was thinking, so she let him do that. Dan took another look at the Rocket girl standing before him, then began to speak. "I know who you are! You're my old rival!" The girl eyes widened in shock. She didn't think Dan would recognize her until she revealed her identity herself. "Yes, it me," she said, head down. "Your old rival, Amy." - "So, we finally meet again," Dan said. "What do you want from me?" "Well," Amy said. "First, I want to make up for everything I've said and done. To tell the truth, I didn't get nearly as far as I said I would." "Oh?" Dan said, raising an eyebrow. "Yes," Amy continued. "I was only able to make it as far as Sabrina. Then...I was defeated by her three times. I was so ashamed, I couldn't return home, or try to challenge the other gym leaders." "Well," Dan said. "You could always go back again. I'll help you a bit this time." "Really?" Amy said. "Really," Dan said. "Now what was that call about? What's the Team Rocket operation you want to stop?" He looked at Amy again. "And why do you want it stopped if you're part of it?" "Ok," Amy said. "Some other Team Rocket members are down in the caverns, trying to capture Articuno. Though I doubt they've gotten very far." She grinned. "I'm the only one with the right Pokemon for the job." "And what about you?" Dan asked. "You're part of Team Rocket, aren't you?" Amy slowly nodded. "Yes. But looking back, I'm not even sure why I joined. No one in the team likes me, and I don't like the way they operate. I want to get out, and that's why I called you. Anyone else would probably turn me in with all the others." Dan stood there, looking at Amy, who had her head hung. No one said anything for a while. Then, Dan broke the silence. "What are we waiting for? Let's go save Articuno!" He ran down into the cavern, followed by Amy, who was followed by Clefairy. TBC...
